Crump & Kwash, based in Baltimore, Maryland, and founded in 2015, is an interior design studio devoted to the quality manufacturing of modern and Art Deco-style contemporary furniture. Justin Kwash and Paul Crump collaboratively blend 21st-century manufacturing practices with fastidious product development and flawless execution. This dynamic duo leverages their respective artistic and architectural backgrounds to create simple, yet beguiling, well-crafted furniture.
Kwash began his career making large-scale sculptures, while Crump, a graduate of the Maryland Institute College of Art, started in architecture. They first collaborated while working for an architectural precast company.
Their pieces have a captivating design flair while being made to last a lifetime. Crump & Kwash have experimented with materials like wood, steel, glass, aluminum and even concrete, always ensuring that their pieces are durable, visually pleasing and comfortable. The result has been a jaw-dropping array of stunning lounge and club chairs, side and end tables, stools, credenzas, dressers and mirrors. Their success allowed them to expand to a new studio in 2020.
Crump & Kwash’s soaring popularity and admirable design accomplishments earned them a place on the American Design Hot List in 2019. Their distinguished list of clients includes Google, Cisco, WeWork, Auto Camp and the New York Public Library.

Why buy our stumps?
KILN DRIED
Our stumps all go through a drying process in our kiln, sometimes for up to a month. We are meticulous with bringing each and every log to a specific moisture level. This process helps with major cracking, long-term moisture issues, and bugs.
ECO FRIENDLY
In an effort to replenish the trees we use, we plant 50+ trees a year. In addition, we practice salvage logging. Where do we source these? Some of the trees fall naturally. Some have damage from severe wind, lightning, flood, disease, or other natural disturbance so they need to be cut and removed before they fall. Others are fresh cut because people want them off their land. Salvage logging may reduce erosion, reduce intensity of future wildfires, and slow buildup of pest insects.

These are made from our family to yours. Quality is of utmost importance, and we hand cut, de-bark, sand, and finish every piece with care.
COMMERCIAL GRADE
These stumps are meant to be loved and USED. Each is finished with a durable commercial-grade finish. This finish is tough enough for spills, kids, and holds up in hotel and hospitality settings.

The charismatic Coriolis side table is made out of solid black walnut hardwood and has three drawers mounted on wooden runners in traditional drawer boxes. It’s built with exposed joinery that has been carefully designed for beauty and strength.
The design was inspired by a desire to make an object that fit as well into a minimalist setting as a maximalist one - where where the form is pared down to be as simple as possible while at the same time breaking the rules of what is normally done in furniture to make an object that is unexpected and full of joy.
Each piece is built to order one at a time by master craftspeople in our shop in Albuquerque, NM, and assembled to respect the character of the individual pieces of wood. We use a durable hand rubbed oil-wax finish that’s long lasting, easy to repair, and brings out the wood’s natural beauty.
The Coriolis Side Table ships flat packed and some simple assembly is required, instructions and hardware are included.
