Used Leather Ottoman For Sale on 1stDibs

With a vast inventory of beautiful furniture at 1stDibs, we’ve got just the used leather ottoman you’re looking for. Each used leather ottoman for sale was constructed with extraordinary care, often using animal skin, leather and wood. Your living room may not be complete without a used leather ottoman — find older editions for sale from the 18th Century and newer versions made as recently as the 21st Century. When you’re browsing for the right used leather ottoman, those designed in Mid-Century Modern, Scandinavian Modern and Modern styles are of considerable interest. Many designers have produced at least one well-made used leather ottoman over the years, but those crafted by Charles and Ray Eames, Herman Miller and De Sede are often thought to be among the most beautiful.

How Much is a Used Leather Ottoman?

The average selling price for a used leather ottoman at 1stDibs is $3,686, while they’re typically $50 on the low end and $62,400 for the highest priced.

Finding the Right Seating for You

With entire areas of our homes reserved for “sitting rooms,” the value of quality antique and vintage seating cannot be overstated.

Fortunately, the design of side chairs, armchairs and other lounge furniture — since what were, quite literally, the early perches of our ancestors — has evolved considerably.

Among the earliest standard seating furniture were stools. Egyptian stools, for example, designed for one person with no seat back, were x-shaped and typically folded to be tucked away. These rudimentary chairs informed the design of Greek and Roman stools, all of which were a long way from Sori Yanagi's Butterfly stool or Alvar Aalto's Stool 60. In the 18th century and earlier, seats with backs and armrests were largely reserved for high nobility.

The seating of today is more inclusive but the style and placement of chairs can still make a statement. Antique desk chairs and armchairs designed in the style of Louis XV, which eventually included painted furniture and were often made of rare woods, feature prominently curved legs as well as Chinese themes and varied ornaments. Much like the thrones of fairy tales and the regency, elegant lounges crafted in the Louis XV style convey wealth and prestige. In the kitchen, the dining chair placed at the head of the table is typically reserved for the head of the household or a revered guest.

Of course, with luxurious vintage or antique furnishings, every chair can seem like the best seat in the house. Whether your preference is stretching out on a plush sofa, such as the Serpentine, designed by Vladimir Kagan, or cozying up in a vintage wingback chair, there is likely to be a comfy classic or contemporary gem for you on 1stDibs.

With respect to the latest obsessions in design, cane seating has been cropping up everywhere, from sleek armchairs to lounge chairs, while bouclé fabric, a staple of modern furniture design, can be seen in mid-century modern, Scandinavian modern and Hollywood Regency furniture styles.

Admirers of the sophisticated craftsmanship and dark woods frequently associated with mid-century modern seating can find timeless furnishings in our expansive collection of lounge chairs, dining chairs and other items — whether they’re vintage editions or alluring official reproductions of iconic designs from the likes of Hans Wegner or from Charles and Ray Eames. Shop our inventory of Egg chairs, designed in 1958 by Arne Jacobsen, the Florence Knoll lounge chair and more.

No matter your style, the collection of unique chairs, sofas and other seating on 1stDibs is surely worthy of a standing ovation.

Questions About Used Leather Ottoman
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 26, 2024
The use of an ottoman in a bedroom is largely the same as it is in a living room. A person may place an ottoman in front of a lounge chair or accent chair used for reading in the bedroom, or they might position it at the foot of the bed or against the wall so that it can serve as a bench. An ottoman with a hinged top and a hidden inner compartment may serve as storage furniture for bedding, pillows, clothing, shoes or accessories. Shop a large selection of ottomans on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertJune 15, 2023
Yes, an ottoman can be used as a footstool. The ottoman, originally an upholstered seat or small bench without a back or arms, was a family’s main seating furniture, a way to merge floor seating with cushions and mats. It wasn’t until they were brought to Europe from Turkey, during the 18th century, that it became popular to join ottomans with other pieces of furniture, such as at the base of a chair. On 1stDibs, find a collection of ottomans.
  • 1stDibs ExpertOctober 7, 2024
Yes, Natuzzi uses real leather as upholstery on its pieces. The Italian furniture maker is particularly well-known for its Protecta leather, which is genuine leather that features a protective coating to reduce the risk of staining and wear and tear. In addition to leather furniture, Natuzzi also produces sofas and chairs with natural OEKO-Tex Standard 100-certified fabrics. Shop a large collection of Natuzzi furniture on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022

  • 1stDibs ExpertMay 5, 2023
No, Chanel doesn’t typically use synthetic leather. The French luxury fashion brand’s leather handbags, shoes and accessories are generally either lambskin or a type of calfskin called caviar leather. Shop a range of Chanel pieces from some of the world’s top boutiques on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertAugust 20, 2024
Yes, Stressless uses real leather. The luxury furniture maker produces upholstery out of several different kinds of genuine leather, all of which are carefully sourced to ensure quality. • 1stDibs ExpertApril 5, 2022
Leather buckets were used as fire extinguishers, and were generally found in pairs. There would be a large linen bag rolled up inside for one to quickly pack belongings. Water from any nearby water source would be brought in these buckets to extinguish the fire. You can find an assortment of leather fire buckets from some of the world’s top sellers on 1stDibs.
  • 1stDibs ExpertFebruary 13, 2023
