Marlene III is a tall, elegant bronze sculpture of a human figure. Nando Kallweit is a German sculptor working in bronze and oak. Kallweit carves the original piece from a piece of oak using a chainsaw. The oak marque is then used to create a cavity in clay and sand into which the bronze is poured. The resultant bronze is particularly organic and tactile. The wood grain is apparent, as are the cut marks where the chainsaw has bitten into the wood.
