Leader唤 ( Edition of 8 )
Leader draws inspiration from the imagery of a leader waiving at the crowd. In the course of creation, the wax prototype was deformed due to the prolonged process. The slightly crooked figure represents an interesting serendipity. This piece is produced in 8 editions; each one is slightly different from the others. Leader can also be wall-mounted. It was produced in association with Leader 2 in the same series, continuing the artist’s streak of creating hollow figures.

“I poured all my personal emotions into this sweater-wearing character. In order not to affect the temperament with more information, I subtracted the character's face and completed the character with a jumpsuit and hoodie. Because of the characters I create, I use their actions and gestures to suggest a particular state and a power expressed by the characters themselves.” ~ Huang Yulong

Huang Yulong
Huang Yulong was born in 1983 in Anhui Province, China. In 2007 he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture from the Jingdezhen Ceramic Institute in Jiangxi Province. As one of the new generation of Chinese artists and part of the ‘post-80s generation’ and ‘only child’ generation, Huang is strongly influenced by the phenomenon of foreign culture in China, which he combines with his fascination with pottery and the material world. Huang is best known for his sculptures of Buddhas in hoodies, displaying an exchange of Eastern tradition and Western contemporary style. He was selected by “Complex” as “25 Contemporary Chinese Artists You Need to Know” in 2013. His sculptures have been exhibited at Niubi Newbie Kids II, at Schoeni Gallery, Hong Kong; “Zeitgeist” Huang Yulong’s Solo Exhibition at Himalayas Art Museum, Shanghai, China; Chinese Artist / Marseille Artist at Marseilles, France; The 4th International Contemporary Art Exhibition at Gwangju Biennale Korea, Art Beijing Art Fair at Beijing, China and etc. He also held his first solo exhibition “NULL” in Hong Kong in 2015.

Bruno Luna was born in Mexico City in 1963. He was an assistant to Marcelo Morandin, A renowned Mexican Sculptor. Over the years, his work evolved into a very distinct style, A style of voluptuousness influenced by Colombian master Fernando Botero (he calls them Gorditos) along with influences of Mexican tradition, and a cubist, almost Picasso esque treatment of the human figure. Bruno Luna's sculptures carry an undeniable air of joyousness, happiness and vitality. His work has been exhibited internationally, and is included in many public and private collections. Among those are the collections owned by Prince Rainier of Monaco, the American actor Chevy Chase, and many others. Bruno Luna's sculptures appeared on Mexican most popular syndicated network, Televisa, in a soap opera called "Mi Abuelo y Yo".
