George Wayne Lundeen (American, born 1948) NSS “Promise of the Prairie” Museum Quality Cast Bronze, Limited edition of 21, signed and marked, G.W. Lundeen ©1983 20/21 on the top/back of the bronze base to the right of figure's feet. Additional photos available upon request. 36” tall, 16” wide, 12” deep (on wood swivel base and includes title plaque) Shipping price includes the custom packing necessary for safe transport of fine art. 'Promise of the Prairie' was first exhibited at The Denver Rotary Club’s ‘Artists of America Exhibition and Sale’ at the Colorado Heritage Center, Denver, Colorado September 1983. The enlargement of this composition is placed in public parks throughout the nation. Both maquette and life-sized editions are sold out and only periodically available on the secondary market. This casting is in excellent condition, Patina is in superb condition, cleaned and waxed, Base shows minimal wear, consistent with normal aging. About the Artist: A native of Holdrege, Nebraska, Lundeen was a Fulbright-Hayes Scholar studying at the Academia de Belle Arte in Florence, Italy. He holds a masters in Fine Arts from the University of Illinois and a bachelor of arts from Hastings College in Nebraska. George Lundeen established his sculpting studio in Loveland, Colorado in the mid-1970s where he currently lives and works. He has been commissioned to sculpt portraits and interpretive works alike for universities, municipalities, foundations, and corporations. Mr. Lundeen is a member of the National Academy of Design and the National Sculpture Society.

It is in excellent condition, sold as pictured. This artist's proof has been in the possession of another bronze artist who got the sculpture directly from Kent Ullberg. It has been very well cared for. The casting is heavier than most, appears to be a solid casting. ABOUT THE ARTIST: A native of Sweden, Kent Ullberg is recognized as one of the world's foremost wildlife sculptors. He studied at the Swedish University College of Art in Stockholm and worked at museums in Germany, the Netherlands, France, Africa and Denver, CO. After living in Botswana, Africa, for seven years he has made his home permanently in the United States where he now lives on Padre Island, Corpus Christi, TX. He also maintains a studio in Loveland, CO. Ullberg is a member of numerous art organizations and has been honored with many prestigious awards. In 1990 his peers elected him a Full Academician (NA), thus making him the first wildlife artist since John James Audubon to receive one of the greatest tributes in American art. A selection of his memberships include the National Sculpture Society; the American Society of Marine Art; the Allied Artists of America; Nature in Art, Sandhurst, UK; the National Academy of Western Art in Oklahoma City, OK which awarded him the Prix de West, the foremost recognition in Western Art.
