About the Item

Divyendu Anand - The Lost Civilisation, Edition 2 of 9 Patinated Bronze over Composite Granite H 63 x W 19 x D 12 inches Growing up with the thoughts of altruism, idealism and beauty, Divyendu joined NIFT, Delhi after high school. He landed with a good product design job at Michael Aram, an award-winning, internationally renowned American Artist who had dedicated his life to craft based design. His conscious journey as an artist started when he found design world to be too limiting to express his abstract feelings. He developed an itch to express something deeper and meaningful. Esoteric questions like the purpose of life, truth about existence propelled his mind towards the ideas for artistic expression. However, it took him a long journey of two decades to refine his thoughts and develop the language of expression. His artistic expressions are assimilation and essence of outer and inner experiences. “Human mind is mysterious and abstract; something finite cannot quench its thirst. Hence, knowingly and unknowingly it seeks for something transcendental, beyond the world of senses” says Divyendu. This quest to ‘know the unknown’ forms the very basis of his creative endeavor. In order to achieve this daunting task, he experiments with the science of aesthetics to establish the link between finite and infinite- in the realm of idea as well as form. Hence, his works are imbued with exoteric yet esoteric sensibilities that seamlessly links ephemeral to eternal. Divyendu wants to create artworks that are not just sensually pleasing, but even more, are source of transcendence or higher knowledge and being. To him the final material is immaterial as long as the form does its job of evoking sense of freedom and bliss.
