About the Item
‘I’ve been investigating ways of finding space to breathe, and the impact that natural environments can have on our emotions. I have been inspired by time spent in natural liminal spaces including the contrasts and colours of the Antarctic environment, and the rugged beauty and sense of long time on the Scottish highland coast’. DJ
The work abstractly represents the environments that inspire it, shaped by colour, line, and pattern. Its sculptural forms consist of fluid layers, with colours flowing through various levels. The designs evoke a sense of folding, sliding, and slipping, mirroring the shifts and transitions in our moods and thoughts.
Debra first worked with glass in a Canberra Glassworks course in 2007. She went on to study glass at the Australian National University School of Art (Glass Workshop), graduating in 2013.
