This colorful abstract landscape piece is a Limited-Edition giclee print by Ken Elliott with an edition of 195. Printed on canvas, this giclee ships framed in a gold floater frame wired and ready to hang. Other floater frame options are available in silver, black, white, and walnut. For additional sizes and alternate frame options or rolled, please contact us. Limited Edition prints are printed with pigment ink on a Premium Fine Art Matte Canvas and designed to meet museum longevity requirements and ensure consistency. The artist's signature and edition number will be added to the giclee electronically when created. Each print comes with a Certificate of Authenticity containing all information and retail price. Also, this framed giclee ships for free.
"Creating this piece was pure joy," the artist says of this piece. "It is all about patterns and color and the combinations are endless... The forest was much less populated in the earlier versions and the colors more subdued. As I added more trees to improve the composition, the piece called out for more color. Additional density was added to the background leaves along with a bit of aqua to the upper right. Every color was taken higher and as they were added, the forest came alive."
Ken Elliott is an abstract landscape artist based in Colorado. With over 40 years in the art business, his knowledge spans well beyond the easel. Of his work, Elliott says, "My focus is the landscape and its rich store of ideas and inspiration. I am compelled to work from the trees, skies, lakes and streams in their endless variations. I don’t try to recreate nature (even Monet said he never got it right), or attempt storytelling. Instead, the works are simplifications and exaggerations of nature. There was a time when I felt the tyranny of the landscape. That is, I felt limited by making pictures of a place. Now, instead of making pictures, I am free to make paintings - art that comes from nature but is far more reliant on the strategies of making good art objects."

Ken Elliott
Ken Elliot works with oil paints and pastels to bring abstracted scenes of nature to life. The Colorado artist’s frequently luminous landscape paintings, which feature trees, rivers, lakes, mountains and skies, ripple with energy. Elliot finds endless inspiration in the variation of the world around him, and the prolific colorist’s works are held in thousands of personal and private collections.
Elliot didn't begin painting until late in life. In 1967, he graduated from the University of Houston, where he studied art and advertising. His subsequent jobs as an art restorer, a picture framer and an art dealer in Texas exposed him to many styles and a range of mediums. Finally, in 1987, Elliot moved to San Francisco to embark on a painting career. He started by painting breathtaking sunlit scenes of Texas and California.
After a few years of teaching himself new skills and techniques, Elliot was accepted into a master class at the Santa Fe Art Institute. The class was taught by acclaimed painter Wolf Kahn — who studied with the legendary teacher and Abstract Expressionist painter Hans Hofmann — and Kahn’s insights have since proven indispensable for Elliot.
Elliot currently lives in Colorado, where he continues to create more Impressionistic landscapes. Sometimes he isn’t merely working on one painting — the artist usually has a number of works going at once and has said that the paintings can inspire one another. Elliot regularly exhibits at galleries in Colorado, New Mexico, Connecticut, Texas and New York.

Artist’s Statement:
I have been surrounded by artists virtually all my life. I received my first drawing instruction at the age of six from my father. We were living in New Mexico at the time and he was an avid amateur landscape painter there. Although I dabbled in painting off and on for years, my first career took a different path. Following a BA from the University of Colorado and a PhD from The Ohio State University I entered a career in neuroscience research. However, in 2004, I committed to painting full time and was almost immediately rewarded with the joy of recreating scenes I loved.
