Cup, Two Picasso Profiles by Jasper Johns, 1973 Signed and dated in the stone Lithograph. Paper size is 20 x 16 inches, with an image size of 14.75 x 10.5 inches. The Lithograph is from an unknown edition size. and is not framed. The condition was rated A- Near Mint, very light signs of handling. Additional details: Plate-signed and dated color lithograph printed by Mourlot, Paris. From one side, two profiles of jasper Johns appear face to face while a cup appears in the open space between both profiles. Mounted in a white cardboard mat with a 3 inch face profile. 2 Brown dots on the left bottom corner of image.
Painter Jasper Johns (American, b.1930) was born in Georgia and attended the University of South Carolina before moving to New York City in his 20s. In New York, he met artist Robert Rauschenberg, choreographer Merce Cunningham, and composer John Cage, all of whom profoundly influenced each other. In 1958, Johns entered the public eye when dealer Leo Castelli visited Rauschenberg’s adjacent studio; Johns was awarded a show at Castelli’s gallery, which then lead to his first sale at The Museum of Modern Art in New York.
Famous for his paintings of flags, targets, maps, and numbers, Johns painted seemingly mundane but powerful symbols in a variety of media, such as oil, encaustic, ink, pencil, collage, and relief. Though Johns is sometimes labeled Neo-Dada or the father of Pop Art, his work displays a deep concern with questions of representation and the nature of mark-making within art.

Jasper Johns
Jasper Johns is an American painter, sculptor and printmaker born on May 15, 1930. He eventually became one of America's best known post–Abstract Expressionists and Minimalists.
Johns's name is most often associated with pictorial images of flags and numbers and Pop art subjects that he depicted in Minimalist style with an emphasis on linearity, repetition and symmetry. He completed his first flag painting in 1955, alphabet subjects in 1956, sculpture in 1958 and lithographs in 1960.
