Miguel Berrocal
Miguel Ortiz Berrocal was a renowned Spanish artist, born on September 28, 1933, in Villanueva de Algaidas, Spain, and passed away on May 31, 2006, in Antequera, Spain. He left an indelible mark on the world of contemporary sculpture, especially through his complex and innovative works. Berrocal studied at the School of Fine Arts in Malaga and the School of Fine Arts in Paris, where he was influenced by artists such as Pablo Picasso and Salvador Dalí. His work stood out for its unique approach to sculpture, combining traditional art with modern technology. He is best known for his modular sculptures in bronze, aluminum, and resin, which could be disassembled into numerous pieces, encouraging viewers to actively engage in their understanding and appreciation. Berrocal created iconic pieces such as "La Minotaura" (1964) and "La Comédie Humaine" (1967), which were exhibited worldwide and received critical acclaim. His passion for geometry, mechanics, and enigma is reflected in his work, challenging the boundaries of traditional sculpture. Apart from his sculptures, Miguel Ortiz Berrocal was also a musician, composer, and writer. He collaborated with artists like Joan Baez and published works on art and philosophy. Throughout his life, Berrocal received numerous awards and accolades for his contribution to contemporary art, and his work continues to influence many artists and collectors worldwide. His ability to merge technical precision with artistic creativity made him a prominent figure in the 20th-century art scene, leaving behind a lasting legacy in the world of sculpture and contemporary art.

Located in Long Island City, NY
A lithograph from the Marina Picasso Estate Collection after the Pablo Picasso painting "Tete". The original painting was completed in 1954. In the 1970's after Picasso's death, Marina Picasso, his granddaughter, authorized the creation of this lithograph by Laurent Marcel Salinas, who worked closely with Picasso during his lifetime. The limited edition print run was completed and published by Marina Picasso in conjunction with Jackie Fine Arts in 1982. The lithograph is printed on French Arches paper, ink-stamped by the Estate verso, and hand-signed and numbered edition of 500 by Marina Picasso on the recto. The embossed seal of the Estate is lower right and the printer's chop, lower left. The work is presented in an excellent brown wood frame with silk linen matting using all acid-free conservation materials.
