Charges du Jour is an original color lithograph, realized in 1860 by Honoré Daumier (1808-1879).
This was the cover of the print suit "Album des Charges du Jour", composed of 30 lithographed caricatures by the French artist.
Inscriptions: Lith. Destouches, Paris, on the lower right corner.
Glued on white cardboard, the original sheet is in excellent condition, except for slight foxing.

Honoré Daumier
Honoré-Victorin Daumier was a French printmaker, caricaturist, painter and sculptor, whose many works offer commentary on the social and political life of 19th-century France. Daumier is famous for this satirical commentary through the lithographs he produced. He is best known for his caricatures of political figures. Daumier’s works are found in many of the world’s leading art museums, including the Louvre, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Rijksmuseum.

Good conditions except for a very small rip on the right upper side.
Beautiful and fresh print representing a female figure simbolizing the spring. The young woman is smelling fresh flowers in a garden. The work is a very good example of Art Dèco illustration of that period in which the Art Nouveau was bursting.
This beautiful work has been realized by Jacques Beltrand (Paris, 1874 - 1977) a Fresh painter, engraver, xylographer. He collaborated with his father Tony Beltrand from 1890. He soon became a master of the xylograph and book illustrator. He exhibited at the Society of Painters and Engravers of Paris and became a member of the Conseil Supérieur des Beaux-Arts and of the Comité des Tuileries where he exhibited until 1944. Most of his works are preserved in the French Prints Cabinet.
