Interesting lithograph on paper depicting the figure of an old man sitting on an old desk with books. The man wears an elegant coat and a top hat.
Andreas Achenbach (Kassel, 1815 - Düsseldorf, 1910). Achenbach was a German landscape and seascape painter in the Romantic style. He is considered to be one of the founders of the Düsseldorf School. His brother Oswald was a landscape painter. They were known as the "Apha and Omega" of landscape painters.
