Reproduction of a monotype as published in the first edition of "Mimes des Courtisanes de Lucien / Dialogue of the Courtesans by Lucien" trans. Pierre Louys, 1934/35.
In the early 1920s, Ambroise Vollard (the great art dealer and publisher, champion of Picasso. Cezanne, Renoir and Rouault) bought monotypes from the Estate of Degas. They were later published in two portfolios, engraved by Maurice Potin and finally published in 1934/35. This plate comes from the archives of Maurice Potin.
