Ronald Katz was born in South Africa in 1939 to parents who emigrated from Germany. His first ten years were spent there. Arriving in the United States of America, specifically New York City, he attended public schools, followed by Queens College, obtaining a BA with a major in mathematics and minors in physics and art. Categorizing Katz's work might at first seem difficult. Nevertheless, close scrutiny and increased familiarity with individual works, as well as the overall panorama of his production, should enable the viewer to identify a number of central themes along with consistency of approach.
