About the Item
A sparking plumaged pigeon is perched on a railing in the Carl Schurz Park promenade. Street Photographer Mitchell captured him while a young woman sits on a park beach lost in her book. The iridescence prism-like feathers of the bird play off the think smokey sky. It was taken on a day when the Canadian wildfires covered New York in a blanket of bronze air.
This archival color photograph by fine art photographer Mitchell Funk is signed, dated and numbered 3/15, lower right recto. Other sizes are available and the fine art photograph is unframed and printed later. Printed on Hahnemühle Fine Art paper - Color will vary slightly from monitor to monitor.
Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of " Color Photography." In 1970 he participated in one the first " Color Photography" shows at a major museum. Mitchell Funk is a pioneer of color photography. In 1970, he participated in one of the first color photography shows at the Brooklyn Museum titled “Images en Couleur." In 1971, he was included in the visionary books Frontiers of Photography and Color (Life Library of Photography), both published by Time-Life. He has done more than 50 photography magazine covers, including covers for Newsweek and Life.
