Guy Robinson is inspired by the work of Paul Klee, Albrecht Durer and Giuseppe Arcimboldo.
Guy Robinson is an Atlanta-based contemporary Surrealist painter. His recent work, “The Poetry of Paradox,” explores the magic of seemingly random objects, or as the 20th century German surrealist, Max Ernst, once put it, “A linking of two realities that by all appearances have nothing to link them, in a setting that by all appearances does not fit them.” Bluebirds, origami, heads of lettuce, a paintbrush, a mouse and an iris - their connection is left up to your interpretation. While Guy’s maximalist pattern-filled paintings appear to be meticulously pre-planned, they actually develop & evolve on the canvas.
“Making Art is always a matter of trust – a leap of faith – working with no ulterior motives,” says Guy. “It is never a contrivance. You come to the Muse empty with your hat in your hand. The Muse can be contrary, frightening and painful as well as joyous, but she is always right. You go where she sends you – working the unsolvable puzzle. I don’t mean to imply that you just wait around for inspiration; it’s an active listening. You never really have to worry about inspiration. Enough can never be said about an apple. The Muse feeds on training and hard work.”
Guy attended the Atlanta College of Art on a Ford Foundation grant, and has worked extensively in painting, sculpture, printmaking and drawing ever since. His Surrealist works have been exhibited internationally and are included in the collections of the Museum of Contemporary Art of Georgia. Guy has over thirty-five years experience teaching drawing and painting for Emory University's continuing education program.

Mark Bowers- Artist Statement
With the depiction of landscape playing such a central role in the history of North American art, it seemed to offer many of the critical possibilities I was looking for, and it felt more and more like something I have always known. Something I could easily apply, stage, and manipulate as a diary.
My work consists of small-scale highly detailed landscape paintings. They are inspired by the comfort, trepidation, and beauty found in the mundane Chicago Suburbs. I combine nature, decorative house wares...
