About the Item
Two oil paintings of potted tulips. The canvases are attached, but could be hung separately. Both compositions show a terra-cotta pot of tulips, the backgrounds of both have shades of tan and vibrant green. One composition is slightly more colorful with two broad swaths of blue and white paint behind the flowers on the right, and a pop of orange in the upper lefthand corner. The paint is applied thickly, ridges of paint forming where it was applied wet into wet. Bare canvas shows through in places on both paintings.

Darius Yektai was born in Southampton NY, in 1973. He lives and works out of his home and studio in Sag Harbor. He grew up in a cultural home of art and artists, with his Greek-American Mother, and his Father, Manoucher Yektai, an Iranian who emigrated to the US after the Second World War, was a prominent Hamptons AbEx painter. Darius has picked up some traits from his father but pushes even further into what is now completely his-own.
Darius' most recent body of work is bright, colorful, with oil and acrylic paints laid on thick. He's creating sculptural paintings that can't be read from left to right, they need to be examined from surface to base, from section to section, and then overall as an encompassing whole.

Darius Yektai
Darius Yektai was born in Southampton, New York, in 1973. He lives and works out of his home and studio in Sag Harbor. Darius grew up in a cultural home of art and artists, with his Greek-American mother and his father, Manoucher Yektai, an Iranian who emigrated to the United States after the Second World War. Manoucher was a prominent Hamptons Abstract Expressionist painter. Darius has picked up some traits from his father but pushes even further into what is now completely his own.
Darius’s most recent body of work is bright and colorful, with oil and acrylic paints laid on thickly. He's creating sculptural paintings that can't be read from left to right — they need to be examined from surface to base, from section to section, and then, overall, as an encompassing whole.
