"Being a single father and working a full-time job limits the time I have to paint," shares artist Christopher Garvey. "This painting is an allegory that represents the feeling of being overwhelmed and distracted. The statue is looking away at the large blank canvas in the background, longing to begin work while being surrounded by the chaos. It's that moment when all of the complete disorder around you pulls you away from what you would rather be doing."
About the Artist
Christopher Garvey focuses on the still life in his work, capturing objects like dishes and fruit with impressive clarity. He currently lives in South Carolina and finds inspiration in Renaissance and Baroque art. When it comes to technique, he enjoys the challenge of accurate drawing and the transparent qualities of oil paint. He has collected many books over the years, which he uses to improve his practice.
