Robert Glick
'Steinbeck Re-Visited' - Portrait of John Steinbeck - Geometric Portrait

2020

About the Item

Robert Glick (American, born 1950) "Steinbeck Re-Visited" 2020 Oil Paint, Canvas, Stretcher Bars The artist signed the bottom right of the painting. "Steinbeck Re-Visited" by Robert Glick is a 20" x 16" oil on canvas that gracefully intersects the realms of contemporary abstract expressionism and geometric portraiture. Glick’s homage to the esteemed author is crafted with a palette of deep reds and warm earth tones, set against a backdrop of geometric patterns that suggest both the complexity of Steinbeck's narratives and the era he depicted. The artist employs abstract elements not to obscure but to emphasize Steinbeck's contemplative gaze, as if caught in a moment of profound thought or literary creation. Glick's portrayal evokes a sense of nostalgia, while simultaneously offering a modern reinterpretation of a historical figure, blending timelessness with a fresh perspective. The painting invites introspection and reverence, resonating with the enduring impact of Steinbeck’s literary contributions. About the Artist: In his Carmel-by-the-Sea studio, Robert Glick loves to explore various styles of painting while employing a variety of refined artistic skills. The art is dynamic, confident, attractive, and thoughtful. The painting styles often span representational, cubist, surreal, and the more experimental, and are created with acrylics and oils. In addition to representation at AAG, Robert’s work has also been exhibited in three of the triennial Schaefer Portrait Challenges at both the Honolulu Museum of Art at First Hawaiian Center and in Maui’s Schaefer International Gallery. Participation in other juried shows includes many Art Maui exhibitions and in the Hui No’eau Arts Center Group Shows. His work is found in private collections in Carmel-by-the-Sea and Redwood City, California; in Phoenix, Arizona; as well as in Wailea, Hawaii. Robert’s studies in art and design have been at the School of Visual Arts in New York City, the Kootenay School of Art, and the Vancouver School of Art, both in British Columbia, Canada. Original, one-of-a-kind.

Paloma's Dance - Original Oil on Canvas Abstract Figurative Dancer Painting
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Mark Acetelli’s oil and mixed media paintings awaken the viewer’s sense of exploration and adventure; they demand a new discovery. His artworks exhibit a chemistry of complexity and spontaneity, a lyrical abstraction of frenzied marks, many of which previously lay hidden, buried beneath strong layers of self-taught expression. Those truths, first obscured and then obvious, aim to engage the viewer, allowing them to explore their own interpretation. His figurative abstract artworks are represented by Artspace Warehouse in Los Angeles and have been exhibited and collected worldwide, including London, New York, and Hong Kong. This original oil painting on canvas measures 20 inches high by 16 inches wide. It is wired and ready to hang. The sides of the artwork are painted black and it does not require framing. It is signed by the artist on the front of the artwork and titled on the back. Convenient local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and international shipping are available. A certificate of authenticity issued by Artplex Gallery is included. Mark Acetelli was born in Detroit into an artistic household. Mark’s mother herself was a painter and some of his earliest memories were the smell of turpentine and oil paints. Growing up surrounded by his mother's work, she inspired and encouraged him to become an artist. Acetelli’s paintings are inspired by the intensely personal introspective journey of life, from the ever-changing complexities of love, loss, birth, and death. The context of his work he describes as, “Absence and Presence” pertaining to how someone or something can be physically gone, but the essence still remains. Capturing the physical mixed with spirituality on canvas. His application of paint is an extension of that thought process. He works by continuously building up and tearing down, layer upon layer, adding and subtracting. A visceral dance between the conscious and the unconscious until the emotion is expressed. Acetelli’s paintings may go through multiple incarnations with the past lying just beneath the surface, adding to its overall dimension and depth. In his work, Acetelli seeks to evoke a feeling rather than depict a defined image. He uses primarily oils and encaustics to create thickly layered canvases with emotive bursts of color. Creating a world where imagination and reality come together. Acetelli’s works can be found in many private and corporate collections around the world, including Bill Withers...
