"Traccia"—meaning "Trace" in Italian—captures Masri's signature fusion of raw emotion and gestural abstraction. This 48" x 48" mixed media on canvas exemplifies his distinctive approach to contemporary portraiture, where the boundaries between form and feeling dissolve into pure expression. Renowned for painting with his hands—using his fingers, palms, and knuckles—Masri layers pigment in an intensely tactile and visceral experience. The result is a composition alive with movement, where deep blues, fiery reds, and luminous yellows intertwine, evoking a fleeting, shifting sense of identity.
The title, "Traccia," speaks to the impermanence of human presence—the imprints we leave behind, both physically and emotionally. Within the turbulence of this portrait, the suggestion of a face emerges and dissolves, a fragmented reflection of memory, thought, and existence. Masri’s technique, which embraces both abandon and intent, allows viewers to engage with the painting on an intuitive level, drawing them into its raw and evocative narrative.
This captivating work serves as both a statement of artistic mastery and an exploration of the human condition, making it a compelling addition to any collection.
About the Artist:
Masri is a renowned Lebanese-born, US-based artist whose work has been exhibited internationally in the USA, UK, Germany, Lebanon, Italy, and Norway. His paintings are held in major collections worldwide, including those of Ellen DeGeneres, Ringo Starr, and Al Gore.
Driven by an insatiable pursuit of artistic innovation and emotional depth, Masri continuously experiments with new techniques, pushing the boundaries of expression. His work, often described as a fusion of Middle Eastern sensibilities with the gestural intensity of Lucian Freud, is distinguished by its bold palette, dynamic textures, and deep psychological resonance. Entering a trance-like state when creating, Masri channels his inner world onto the canvas, capturing the essence of human experience with unparalleled intensity.
Artist Statement:
"I live four seasons every day—an immense world of perception, conception, and achievement; a world of ever-renewing psychological input and output, fraught with flowing emotions, endurance, and pain."
The painting comes with a certificate of authenticity and a letter of appraisal.

Masri Hayssam's artistic journey is a testament to his commitment to self-expression and exploration. He is a master of paintings of the raw human condition.
