Margot Glass
Dandelion Two, Botanical Painting, Black Panel, Gold Plant, Leaves, Stem, Bud

2021

About the Item

This delicate botanical drawing is made with gold acrylic on cradled panel, painted black. The exploration of ephemerality, and the fragility of a wild dandelion. its leaves, petals and buds are the focus of this painting by Margot Glass. The exquisite beauty of the plant is discovered and elevated through close examination and exquisite drawing by the artist. Initialed on recto, signed, dated and titled on verso. This series is the result of the artist's wildflower research conducted while hiking along the Pacific coast. Working on a dark ground allows the gleam and luster and delicate reflective silver and gold properties of the metallic medium to present as high tones against the black ground. Glass is interested in the tradition of using nature as idealized ornament in art and design while seeking to observe and represent these plants as accurately as possible in all their irregularity and imperfection. The metallic lines enhance the decorative qualities of the filigree patterns formed by the seed heads and leaf veining. Her compositions are tightly cropped to bring the subject as close to the edge of the picture plane as possible. Margot Glass’s work been exhibited widely in the United States and internationally. Glass’s education includes studies in the Brown/RISD Exchange Program, Brown University and Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, RI, she earned a BA with Honors from Brown University. Brown then studied (textile design/pattern) at the Fashion Institute of Technology, New York, NY. The artist lives and works in Massachusetts.

After French Tapestry, Embroidery Painting, Brick Red, Gold, Ivory, Cherubs
Located in Kent, CT
In this painted embroidery, an ornate french tapestry in brick red, gold and ivory with royal blue details on is carefully painted in colorful dots in acrylic and gouache on Duralar mounted on panel. Signed and dated on verso. Kirstin Lamb’s gridded, meticulously detailed paintings on transparent acetate are labor-intensive paintings of labor-intensive textiles and patterns. To create these embroidery paintings, Lamb starts by generating a digitized grid and painstakingly painting each individual gridded stitch by hand using acrylic and gouache on a wet media acetate. The process creates a one-to-one relationship of mark to stitch, the act of each brushstroke serving for the stitch of a needle. Lamb’s embroidery paintings draw patterns from French floral wallpaper of the 17th, 18th, and 19th centuries, while others draw inspiration from vintage embroidery patterns...

"Ghosts" - Abstract Composition in Acrylic, Oil, and Ink on Cradled Wood Panel
Located in Soquel, CA
"Ghosts" - Abstract Composition in Acrylic, Oil, and Ink on Cradled Wood Panel Dramatic abstract composition by Michele King (American, b. 1962). This piece resembles a nebula, with swirling texture and subtle variations in color. Although the piece appears to be mostly black, there are a variety of colors that peek through the top layer. A layer of high gloss varnish creates a nearly iridescent quality to the piece, and the colors shift subtly depending on the viewing angle. Signed "Michele King" on verso. No frame, but the edges are painted for a frame-less display. Board size: 24"H x 24"W Michele King (American, b. 1962) was born in Cleveland, Ohio and moved to California in the 1990s. She attended Virginia Tech and Harvard, where she earned her MPA. She pursued graduate studies at the Glasgow School of Art in 2013. Her work is focused on “memory, the future, and ways in which perception is shaped through a combination of reality and imagination.” King’s process involves layering of various media, creating depth and texture. Carondelet - Figurative Surrealist Portrait Landscape Paintings on Exposed Wood
By Eddy Lee
Located in Los Angeles, CA
Eddy Lee’s figurative surrealist portrait paintings on exposed wood depict emotive sirens who evoke a sense of mystery and seductiveness. His original artworks combine geometric elements with innocent women portraits seeking to trigger emotions, rather than communicating specific explanations. He reconciles the unconscious with rational life, exploring the power of dreams, embracing automatism, and freeing his subjects from the constraints of conscious thought. This colorful, intriguing portrait is painted with acrylic and gouache on a hand-built cradled wood panel. This one-of-a-kind original artwork is 48 inches high by 36 inches wide and is signed by the artist on the back. It is wired and ready to hang. It does not require framing. Free local Los Angeles delivery. Affordable Continental U.S. and worldwide shipping available. A certificate of authenticity issued by the art gallery is included with this unique work. Originally from Seattle, Washington, Eddy Lee relocated to Los Angeles in late 2012 to pursue a full-time career as a fine artist. He started his career on the Venice Beach Boardwalk and quickly gained a large following across the United States with exhibitions in San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Los Angeles. The artist’s work is inspired by the works of Audrey Kawasaki...
