About the Item
A stunning impressionist winter pastoral scene of a quaint snow-covered village. "Britton" is executed with sincere charm and nostalgia. Witty has portrayed this scene in a most intimate, yet energetic way, and has packed much feeling into this piece. It is almost as if we are there on a wintry night, bringing a beautiful feeling from the lightened-up Christmas tree and snowy footprints. Witty is known for capturing the beauty and simplicity of our times, families together at the park or beach, villages and farms, friends taking walks together, and much more. This piece is an excellent example as she captures a snow-filled historic setting with the calm, endearing charm of a snowy evening; we can almost smell the wood-burning fireplaces. Witty engages her audience with attention to detail, and the charm of lights flickering throughout, picking up the energy passionately for her subjects. This piece is signed lower right and it comes housed in a gold-tone ornate wood frame with hanging hardware on verso ready to be displayed.

Trisha Witty was born in 1973. She is an artist from the Great Lakes, growing up on the shores of Lake Michigan. The small and quaint village of Harbor Springs, nestled on Little Traverse Bay, is where she has grown and developed her self-taught talent for over twenty years. Witty began her career at a young age, selling her first oil at age fifteen, and opening her own gallery at age nineteen, in 1992. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1995. After college, Trisha began traveling extensively abroad and spending time in Miami Beach, Naples, Florida, the Caribbean, California, and Southern Florida. Through her travels and experiences, Witty was absorbing the beauty and color of her subject matter, but the culture, arts, and essence of each community. In 2008, Trisha had the opportunity to go to the Middle East and paint in Dubai, Jordan, and Damascus, Syria. She found most of her inspiration to be from the old historic areas of Mt. Nebo at the Dead Sea and in the Old City of Damascus.
