About the Item
This piece, "Fishin' Solo" is a 36x48 oil painting on canvas by artist Trip Park featuring a man in orange shorts, blue shirt and cowboy hat fishing on the edge of the water. The water splashes in and out over his feet while he stands with determination, lure has been cast in the water, and he is waiting patiently for the catch of the day. The water is a blue green and sky is blue with wispy white clouds. The artist uses expressive brush strokes and colorful splashes of paint to capture the movement of the water.
About the artist:
Trip has taken a very crooked, creative path on his way to finding paint and canvas. He began in advertising as an art director with agencies like Leo Burnett & Saatchi & Saatchi, then stumbled into children's books and then fell into editorial cartoons.
His love for animation brought him to character design on some animated features with Blue Sky Studios, but it wasn't until his wife asked him to paint for her retail interior design shop walls that his new obsession took over completely.
Painting (on average) at least one piece a day he came to realize, like every other career path, you only get better by doing (and doing and doing).
