Artist Sharon France shares a sweeping wide-open view of a modest farmstead under a sky full of stars. She captures the charm of the countryside with old barns and farmhouses as they would have looked over a century ago. The simplistic orientation of the architecture stands out from the stellar celestial panorama. Glints of silvery light speckled over the tremendously boundless heavens evoke an extensive feeling of awe.


About the Artist
Sharon France has many fond childhood memories of visits to her grandparents; remote Midwestern farm. She now lives on her own farmstead with her family where she paints the beauty around her. Sharon found inspiration in the work of Hudson River School Artists, Minimalists, Tonalists and Realists. When she;s not painting, she loves to hike. She currently lives in Illinois.

The painting was inspired by a series of flower borders in the Oxford Botanic Gardens known as the Merton Borders, a natural planting, with sustainability in mind, the species are able to withstand high temperatures and low rainfall. The borders are a riotous profusion of pink, yellow and purple flowers. Last image shows a diptych - The other works is sold but commissions are available. This was the left hand panel of a bright jazzy pair of paintings intended to form a diptych - see Red Hot Border II which formed the right hand panel. The paintings may be hung separately or side by side as shown in the insitu image. Summer Hope [2021] Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look Summer Hope is part of a series of paintings made in 2021 inspired by early morning walks on the fell landscape. Her expressive paintings are very much influenced by the idea of a new day representing a new beginning, a hopeful emotional moment. This searching for hope was undoubtedly a subconscious response to an extraordinary time and her paintings celebrate the joy and freedom of being in the landscape. Jill is inspired by the landscape of the North East and most of her work is based on an ancient mining landscape called Cockfield Fell where she walks nearly every day.
