Junius Allen, N.A. ( 1898-1962) was considered one of the most promising artists of the twentieth century for his naturalistic and enticing paintings of coastal landscapes and harbors in New Jersey, New York, and New England. He became one of the many American artists inspired by the spectacular landscape over generations. The solidity of the compositional elements and soft brush strokes create a provocative dichotomy reminiscent of experiencing frigid ocean water on a hot summer day. He earned distinguished roles as a member of the Salmagundi Club and academician of the National Academy of Design during his lifetime, as well as numerous exhibitions along the Northeast coast. His work can be found today in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Montclair Art Museum, the Art Museum of the New Britain Institute, and the State Teachers College of Trenton, New Jersey in addition to many private and institutional collections.

ARTIST'S STATEMENT
I have been in the art business as an artist and dealer since the early 80's. Almost 40 years now. I primarily concentrate on my own art. My art is derived in a variety of ways. I'm a responder. I respond to light, color, design, etc and I love painting both outdoors on location and in the studio under a controlled environment. I try to convey an idea, mood or just simply a beautiful setting. I'm inspired by a wide variety of subject matter and styles of painting and do not adhere to just one way.
My paintings have won numerous awards over the years and have been collected both nationally and internationally. They can be found in three museum collections, the White House Collection and many private collections.

About the artist
Renelio’s work is split into two directions, one where lines and drawing is the primordial element. The other in which painting and color are used as conveyors of emotion and expression.
The first direction of work is linked to the surrealist method of automatic drawing. Back in the early 1990’s in Havana, while Renelio was still a student at the Academy of Fine Arts, the work of psychologist Carl Jung...
