About the Item
The majesty of the Atlantic Ocean surf and sun in the morning is mesmerizing. The classic rock formations in this impressionist marine landscape by artist James McGinley, former chairman of the fine art department of the famed Newark School of Fine and Industrial Art, are impressive. McGinley has painted, taught art and shown his work internationally for sixty five years. His wave action is reminiscent of Homer with slick rocks and active surf, reflective of McGinley's countless painting sessions by the sea from Italy and Spain to Maine and Massachusetts. This unframed original oil painting is 24x30. The artist framed his oil painting in an antique silver distressed plein air frame with an overall size of 30x36. McGinley's illustrious career has gained him broad acclaim as well as inclusion in numerous private collections across the United States and scholarships in Spain. While he was a strong advocate of individual style he worked closely with John R. Grabach, his distinguished teacher, colleague and friend. James McGinley passed away from Covid in 2021.

James McGinley
James McGinley, former head of fine art at the highly respected Newark School of Fine and Industrial Arts was born in 1937 in Jersey City, New Jersey. McGinley has had many periods of work, including Spain and Italy, the southwest United States, the streets of Newark, the New Jersey and upstate New York countryside, Maine and the Atlantic coastline, portraiture, river rocks and others. The distinguished artist John R. Grabach was his foremost instructor and mentor.
