George Henry Jenkins
Victorian Cornish Stormy Seas at Dusk Fishermen on the Rocks Oil Landscape

19th Century

About the Item

Stormy Seas at Dusk, Cornwall by George Henry Jenkins (British, 1843-1914) Signed oil on board, framed Framed: 12 x 18 inches Board: 9 x 15 inches Provenance: Private collection, South West England This dramatic seascape painting captures the raw power of the ocean as waves crash against the rugged rocky shoreline of Cornwall. The scene is set at dusk, with the sky painted in soft hues of pink, orange, and purple as the sun sets behind a looming cliff. In the foreground, fishermen can be seen tending to their equipment on the rocky outcrop, adding a human element to the wild and untamed landscape. The rough texture of the rocks and the turbulent sea are rendered with great detail, creating a sense of movement and energy. The overall atmosphere is one of both beauty and danger, showcasing the artist's ability to convey the majesty of nature. Condition: The painting is in good condition. The colors remain vibrant, and the details are well-preserved. There are no significant signs of damage, bar minor scuffing to the outer edges of the painting.
