About the Item
Early 20th Century French Impressionist street scene by Charles Pellegrin. The painting is signed bottom right and there is a title and exhibition label to the back of the panel. Presented in deep gilt wood and cloth frame.
A charming view of two figures, a mother and child, making their way along a French street in the South of France. on each side of them stone houses and monuments. Pellegrin has captured the romanticism of the scene, the colours of the stone harmonising with the clay roof tiles, the lush green of the plants and bushes growing along the roadside. Further along a vine snaking its way along the front of a building. All this under a moody sky with clouds drifting along. A really lovely painting that would grace any collection or interior.
Lamalou-les-Bains is a commune in the Hérault department in the Occitanie region in southern France. Exposed to a Mediterranean climate, it is drained by the Orb, the Bitoulet and various other small streams. Included in the Haut-Languedoc Regional Natural Park, the town has a remarkable natural heritage and three natural areas of ecological, faunal and floristic interest.
