About the Item
A beautiful oil on canvas painting by the French artist Andre Franchet. He was a Parisian painter known for his colorful cityscapes depicting the times of his generation. His work is comparable to by many ways of the impressionist masters of the 20th Century. This painting is a wonderful example of his work from the prime of his career. Here you see a beautiful scene with boat navigating on the Seine river towards the Notre Dame of Paris in the background. The details are magnificent as he captures the architecture of Paris so beautifully; you can feel the energy of the day and the excitement. The painting is signed lower left and it comes housed in a a wood carved french frame from the period ready to be displayed with hanging wire on verso.

Andre Franchet was a french artist born in 1896. He was active in France and is known for his technique and colorful visions expressed with a bright colored pallet creating a very special Parisian atmosphere. Andre Franchet passed away in 1961.
