Artist biography:
Julia is an abstract artist whose love of colour is clearly apparent in her vibrant work. She works intuitively - in an improvisatory and spontaneous way, producing work which is very much about colour, expressive gesture and the physical act of painting. It’s as much about the process of painting itself as the progress - exploring and evolving in a fluid and organic way by applying layers of paint. Julia graduated from the Byam Shaw School of Art, after which she worked at the Whitechapel Art Gallery for Nicholas Serota. She then trained to be an art teacher and has taught art for many years. Julia has exhibited widely, including in the Discerning Eye in London, selected by the abstract artist Bert Irvin, more recently at the RWA in 2015 and in the Bath Society of Artists Annual exhibition in 2016. She has works in private collections in the UK, France, Holland, Australia, the US and in a public collection in the Museum of Modern Art , Saitama, Japan.
