About the Item
"Breathe" by Ritchelly Oliveira, 2025
Charcoal and Acrylic on Canvas 120 x 90 cm (47.2 x 35 in)
A deeply evocative composition, "Breathe" by Ritchelly Oliveira captures a moment of tension and release, where the human form and nature intertwine in a powerful visual dialogue. The striking contrast of deep charcoal tones against the ethereal softness of the birds creates a balance between strength and fragility, movement and stillness.
• The composition seamlessly merges the human figure with the movement of birds, suggesting a connection between the body, breath, and the instinct for freedom.
• Oliveira’s mastery of charcoal gives the portrait a sculptural depth, while the delicate acrylic rendering of the birds enhances the illusion of weightlessness.
• The interplay between shadow and light lends an almost cinematic quality, drawing the viewer into the subject’s intimate, introspective moment.
• Ritchelly Oliveira is known for his ability to blend realism with dreamlike elements, making his work compelling and emotionally resonant.
• The monochromatic palette allows the piece to integrate seamlessly into various interiors while maintaining a striking presence.
• This artwork is in excellent condition, professionally stretched on a high-quality canvas, and ready for display.
In "Breathe", Oliveira explores themes of surrender and transformation. The birds, appearing almost as an extension of the figure, evoke a sense of inner liberation, while the subject’s expression oscillates between contemplation and release. This piece invites multiple interpretations—whether as a meditation on resilience, a metaphor for rebirth, or a reflection on the delicate balance between control and letting go.
"Breathe" is an artwork that lingers in the mind, an intimate yet expansive vision of human emotion translated through masterful technique.

Ritchelly Oliveira, visual artist, began his work in 2012, shortly after enter visual arts at the Federal University of Goiás (UFG), he found
human figure a margin to present his speech about what he
understands the deeper aspects of emotional relationships. He works about what he suspects to be love and, believing that this is a universal feeling. Believing that affective relationships are built from the individual and
as their surroundings interfere with them, he tries to rescue the possibility
to construct discourses about love, especially black love. The importance
to reflect together on issues such as sexuality, responsibility
affective and colorism are necessary canons in this invitation to fulfill the ideals
dangerous and exclusionary forms of romantic love that circulate in our environments.

O Tempo Que Me Resta, 2023
Charcoal and Acrylic on Canvas
50 x 50 cm / 13.8 x 13.8 in
A meditation on time, introspection, and impermanence, O Tempo Que Me Resta by Ritchelly Oliveira is a deeply evocative piece that merges realism with poetic abstraction. This circular composition presents a contemplative figure, resting in thought, partially obscured by the dynamic presence of a bird in motion. The monochromatic rendering, enriched with subtle textures and intricate shading, invites the viewer into a quiet yet profound dialogue between stillness and flight.
Oliveira’s work is distinguished by his masterful use of charcoal, creating depth and contrast that feel almost sculptural. The seamless integration of the figure and bird suggests themes of memory, transition, and fleeting moments. The unconventional cut of the canvas further enhances the organic quality of the piece, making it stand out in both form and composition.
This painting is an exquisite example of Ritchelly Oliveira’s ability to balance technical precision with raw emotion. The intimate scale (50 cm diameter) allows for close engagement with the details, making it a striking addition to any collection. His works resonate with collectors who appreciate narrative-driven art—pieces that invite reflection and evolve in meaning over time.
The artwork is in impeccable condition, created using high-quality charcoal and acrylic on canvas. The contrast between deep blacks, soft greys, and delicate highlights gives it a tactile richness. The edges are finished, and the piece can be displayed as-is or framed according to preference.
Ritchelly Oliveira explores the tension between presence and absence, human emotion, and the natural world. O Tempo Que Me Resta reflects his signature approach—an interplay between hyperrealistic drawing and expressive abstraction. It is an invitation to pause and consider the passing of time, the weight of thought...

In My Solitude
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
Nudity in art has historically been a contentious subject, often raising questions about beauty standards, objectification, and the human form. In "In My Solitude," however, Edwin treats nudity with sensitivity and purpose. The nude figure, devoid of clothing and external trappings, serves as a metaphor for vulnerability and raw authenticity. It becomes a powerful statement on embracing one's true self, stripped of societal expectations and external judgments.
The choice of the yoga position is not arbitrary in Edwin's composition. Yoga has long been associated with self-discovery, inner peace, and spiritual enlightenment. The woman's serene posture exudes a sense of calmness and introspection. Through this position, Edwin suggests that solitude and self-reflection are integral to personal growth and inner strength. It encourages viewers to embrace moments of introspection and find solace in their own thoughts, ultimately leading to a deeper understanding of themselves.
Edwin's meticulous attention to detail and symbolism further enriches the narrative of "In My Solitude." The subtle play of light and shadow highlights the contours of the woman's body, accentuating the vulnerability and emotional depth captured in the artwork. The artist's skillful brushwork evokes a sense of intimacy, drawing the viewer into the private world of the subject.
The title itself, "In My Solitude," adds an additional layer of meaning. Solitude, often associated with loneliness, is reimagined as a source of inner strength and self-discovery. Edwin invites viewers to contemplate the transformative power of spending time alone, away from distractions and truly connecting with oneself.

Woman of Valor
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
The centerpiece of "Woman of Valor" is undoubtedly the woman's majestic afro hairstyle. In this artwork, the afro becomes a symbol of pride, cultural identity, and natural beauty. Historically associated with the Black community, the afro has been a powerful emblem of resistance, self-expression, and defiance against societal standards of beauty. By prominently featuring the afro, Edwin highlights the strength and resilience of women who embrace their heritage and challenge conventional norms.
The woman's stern gaze in "Woman of Valor" captures the viewer's attention and evokes a sense of determination and self-assuredness. The intensity of her gaze serves as a reminder that strength does not always manifest through loud or overt actions. It can also be found in the quiet confidence and unwavering resolve of an individual who knows her worth and stands firm in her beliefs. Edwin skillfully portrays this inner strength, encouraging viewers to recognize and celebrate their own uniqueness.
One of the most remarkable aspects of "Woman of Valor" is its celebration of individuality and authenticity. The woman depicted in the artwork stands as a testament to the power of embracing one's true self, regardless of societal expectations or pressures. By representing her with pride, Edwin inspires viewers to embrace their own identities and celebrate their personal journeys. The artwork encourages individuals to recognize the inherent strength and beauty that comes from being true to themselves.
Edwin's attention to detail and mastery of his craft infuses "Woman of Valor" with emotional depth and resonance. The artist's use of color, light, and shadow adds depth and dimension to the woman's features, capturing her inner world and inviting viewers to connect with her on an emotional level. The artwork becomes a mirror that reflects the strength and determination within each viewer, inspiring them to embrace their own unique paths and stand tall in the face of adversity.
