Green and white lake landscape with canoe and forest watercolour painting
By Nicola Magrin
Located in Milan, IT
"North #04" is a beautiful impression of Nicola Magrin's travel to Alaska in 2019. The work was created by Nicola Magrin during a trip with Italian writer Paolo Cognetti on the trail of Chris McCandless. A film was born from their journey: "Sogni di Grande Nord" (Dreams of the Great North, 2021). A passionate traveler, Nicola Magrin knows how to transfer his experiences and emotions onto paper, filtering them through his intimate world. Synthesis and immediacy are combined under the skillful control of the watercolour technique, in which he has achieved international fame. Nicola Magrin was born in Milan in 1978. In 2004 he graduated from the Accademia di Belle Arti di Brera in Milan with a thesis on Miquel Barceló. In 2008 he was selected for a three-month Artist in Residence in New York (U.S.A.) at the Harlem Studio Fellowship by MontrasioArte. Since then he has built a full and authentic artistic career, alongside significant contributions to literary illustration. Among them must be mentioned the covers for Paolo Cognetti's books: "Le otto montagne" (2016) and "Senza mai arrivare in cima" (2018); "Il silenzio" by Erling Kagge (2016), "Le antiche vie" by Robert Macfarlane (2013). He is also responsible for all the covers of the Tiziano Terzani books published by TEA and Primo Levi...
