French artist Evelyne Ballestra studied painting in the South of France before moving to Switzerland where she met her mentor, Rolf Dürig, a master of the expressionist movement. Her paintings strive to communicate a subjective, phenomenological portrait of reality, combining sensory and emotional experience. This radically idiosyncratic and evocative style articulates human spirituality as a relationship between inner experience and nature.
Ballestra’s work draws from multiple cultures, inspired by her world travels, most specifically: Egypt, Latin America, Asia and the Indian Ocean. Her approach to signs and symbols evokes esoteric spiritually as well as her passion for the ancient past and human origins. Her work questions beginnings, and uses visual elements to evoke emotions and connect to a deeper, timeless spiritual essence.
Following her studies with Dürig, Ballestra began experimenting with bright colours, satiny materials and form. Her work is reminiscent of the Fauvist movement, using highly intense colour patterns. Her large canvases filled with vibrating colour combinations allude to the post-Impressionist approaches of Paul Gauguin, Vincent Van Gogh and Henri Matisse.
Since 1974, Ballestra has exhibited widely throughout Europe, Asia and the United States, including numerous solo exhibitions.

Evelyne Ballestra, a French contemporary artist. Ballestra expresses a unique movement in each painting with a very subtle sensuality and a juxtaposition of colors to reveal light and shadows, creating a synergy between the piece and the viewer. She incorporates colorful narratives and cultural innuendos that are inspired by her travels around the world, especially Egypt, Latin America and Seychelles. She attempts to link the human beings and the universe through her pictorial expression, which is connected to the mineral, vegetal, and animal kingdom. Since 1974, Ballestra has exhibited in over 25 major group and solo exhibitions throughout Europe, Asia and the United States.

Carlo Pittore (1943 – 2005) born Charles J. Stanley was an American painter, educator, art activist, and publisher, whose primary study, teaching and body of work was figurative art and portrait painting. He was a pioneer in the Mail Art movement, he corresponded with such mail art luminaries as Buster Cleveland and Ray Johnson. Pittore is noted for opening the first independent art gallery in the East Village, Manhattan. In 1987, Pittore founded "The Academy of Carlo Pittore" in Bowdoinham, Maine.
Pittore (née Charles Stanley) was born to Stanford and Estelle Stanley in Queens, New York. He grew up on Long Island, in Port Washington, New York with his sister Marion and brother Elliott. Pittore graduated from Port Washington High School (1961), where he was active in the political and debating scenes. He then went on to graduate from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts (1966), and post graduate from the Brooklyn Museum Art School (1978).
Pittore changed his name in the 1970s while studying abroad in Rome, Italy. The children nicknamed him "Carlo Pittore", (”Charles the Painter"). From there he went on to study at the Chelsea College of Arts in London.
In 1978, Pittore received the Max Beckmann Scholarship in Advanced Painting. It allowed him to begin studying with American feminist painter Joan Semmel at the Brooklyn Museum Art School. He also studied with visual portrait artist Alice Neel. After which, he taught art at the New York Cultural Foundation.
