About the Item
A beautiful oil on canvas which has been laid on board by the English artist David William Burley depicting a group of friends playing football in a park. Signed lower right and presented in a silver frame.
Born Greenwich, Burley trained at Goldsmiths College London. He was mainly a painter of landscapes and worked in advertising during the 1930’s. when he designed many iconic posters for the Southern and Midland railway companies and later British Railways.
He exhibited work at the Royal Academy, Royal Institute of Watercolour Painters and other major galleries and lived in Birchington in Kent.
