Alexandra Manukyan's " Silent Melody" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a female model with white feathers on her dark hair, her face and body.
"I was inspired by Japanese ukiyo-e woodblock prints. I wanted to create a contrast of three dimensional figure and the flat illustration background.
Like the powerful Egyptian deity, the spiritual meaning of birds is of peace, change, and freedom, and they symbolize a transformation The painting serves as a contemplative ode to the threads that unite us across time, place, and identity." - Alexandra Manukyan
About the Artist:
Alexandra Manukyan was born and raised in Armenia. She graduated from Fine Art College, and subsequently State Pedagogical University, where she majored in Teaching Fine Arts. Upon Immigrating to Los Angeles in 1990, Alexandra's focus turned towards fashion. She graduated from fashion school and worked in the industry as a designer for two decades. She also studied Graphic Design in various colleges. Her experience in Graphic Design gave her the opportunity to branch into the entertainment industry by becoming a freelancer and creating movie posters for various entertainment agencies.
For over twenty years Alexandra has participated in numerous international, and local solo and group exhibitions. Alexandra left the fashion and entertainment industries to completely focus on fine art. Today, she teaches from her studio and creates artwork using the technical, and creative experience she has gained over the years.

Alexandra Manukyan
Alexandra Manukyan (b. 1963) is an Armenian-American artist whose figurative oil paintings merge Old Master techniques with contemporary symbolism and surrealist elements. Following extensive art training in Armenia and a successful two-decade career in fashion and graphic design after immigrating to Los Angeles in 1990, Manukyan transitioned to painting full-time in 2012. Her meticulously rendered works—predominantly in oil on Belgian linen—feature powerful female figures adorned in elaborate costumes personally designed and constructed by the artist. Through a distinctive "dramatic union of contrasts," Manukyan's paintings explore human connection, feminine strength, and humanity's relationship with the natural world. Her work has been widely exhibited at galleries specializing in contemporary representational art, including Abend Gallery, Copro Gallery, and Corey Helford Gallery, and has been recognized through prominent competitions like the Art Renewal Center Salon.
