A very whimsical depiction of a woman standing gracefully in a white gown against a cobalt blue background. This piece captures elegance and the essence of fashion in Pairs effortlessly. Done in a very modern and impressionistic style, the colors are bright yet subtle. Painted oil paint on heavyweight paper, signed and dated lower verso.

Having built a diverse body of work since her early career ranging from portraits to abstract paintings of the universe, today Cindy's works exhibit a more impressionistic technique. She is mostly known for her consistent impressionistic street scenes which resemble the Ashcan school, depicting old cars on the road during the early 20th Century. Her whimsicality is precious, leaving much room for nostalgia in her works. For more than a decade her works have been a part of several important Exhibitions throughout New York City. Her works are part of private collections including ‘Dr. Issac Shohar’ and ‘Zion Yakabov’ in Tel Aviv, Israel, and ‘Alex Acevedo’ on Madison Ave., New York.

Cindy Shaoul
Cindy Shaoul was born in 1987 in New York. She is a visual listed American artist and formally trained. Shaoul has developed a passion for Impressionist street scenes and portraits. With a Hungarian-Persian background that comes from a lineage of artists, Shaoul has matured unique expressions with her voice and story to tell. After completing her professional education at the Emerson College in Boston, she later moved to Israel and Hungary to study culture and science while absorbing the energy of these new cities. In Budapest, she attended the Budai Art Institute from 2007–09, later returning to New York City to continue her artistic education at the Art Students League, where she worked under the tutelage of Joseph Peller, Gregg Kreutz and Thomas Torak. In 2010, she met renowned street artist LA II (Angel Ortiz), who previously worked with Keith Allen Haring in the late 1980s. LA II strongly influenced her style with the powerful impact of 1980s hip-hop and graffiti. They began collaborating on a collection of exciting street art which was later exhibited in Europe. Having built a diverse body of work since her early career ranging from portraits to colorful abstract paintings, Shaoul is constantly reinventing her style working on a range of collections from Pop Culture to City Street Scenes. Shaoul is active in New York and abroad, working diligently on expanding her technique and adding new and exciting elements to her work.

Eleanor Aldrich was born in Springerville, Arizona. A participant at the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Maine, she also holds an MFA in Painting & Drawing from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, where she currently lives. She earned her BFA in Painting & Drawing through the Academie Minerva (Groningen, the Netherlands) and Northern Arizona University, Flagstaff. She was a participant in the Drawing Center’s first Open Sessions.
Eleanor has had solo shows in Boston, Nashville, Knoxville, Flagstaff, AZ, and at the University of Alabama. Her work has been shown at Saltworks Gallery (Atlanta, GA), the Drawing Center (New York, NY), Grin (Providence, RI) and Ortega y Gasset (New York, NY). Her work was chosen for 1708 Gallery’s ‘FEED 2013’ (Richmond, VA). She has been awarded an Endowment for the Arts through the Whiteman Foundation, and the Herman E. Spivey Fellowship. Her work has been included in New American Paintings and on Artforum.
Aldrich's work is textural and alchemical; she matches materials – often industrial sealants – and techniques to the subject matter they look like, thereby approaching a likeness without realistic rendering. She attributes her appreciation of mystery and the possibility of transformation in her work to her Catholic upbringing, in which materials were transformed and images held power over life.
Her work intersects modernist painting, her own experiences, and the physicality of the body. Sometimes her work is about the application – paint is combed, piped, sprinkled and sprayed, reflecting traditional feminine work and crafts. Often the subject matter acts as a metaphor. The lines of a lawn chair seat serves as a veiled reference to the grid, and its breakdown – presumably by human weight – to an imagined encounter with the human body.
