Carol Bennett
"Summer Traveler" oil painting of a woman in red bikini in turquoise water

2021

About the Item

"I throw myself into the water almost every day- it grounds me, the body floats and the mind drifts. The "Swimmer series" has followed me over the years, resurfacing and evolving. Presently I'm working on wood, I'm intrigued by wood grain swirling like water and how that ground moves through the swimmer's form”. Carol graduated from the Art Center College of Design in painting. For some 20 years she split her time between her loft in downtown LA and a beach bungalow in Hawaii- satisfying a passion for culture and the ocean's pull. In LA she painted backdrops and billboards and parlayed these skills to create over 100 large public and corporate commissions internationally: Ocean Patterns is a 220 ft installation at the Honolulu Airport and this year found her in a glasmalerei in Germany, creating Trigger Picasso Energy, a 48 ft. stained glass/ photovoltaic solar canopy for the Hawaii State Art Museum Sculpture Garden. Water flows through all her work, large and small. ..."I jump around a lot, every big commission is uncharted territory: I dive in and give it a whirl. I return to my studio refreshed and renewed and swim in that feeling”. The Eisenhauer Gallery has 25 years of experience in shipping art worldwide.

Delilahs of Darkness
By Michelle Torrez
Located in Edgartown, MA
Known for her powerful and elegant color work, Michelle Torrez' expressionistic oil painting figures are vivid and painterly. But on closer examination, there are qualities that are not obvious - Torrez communicates the beauty of unlikely emotions. Torrez believes that the greatest influences on her work were the circumstances of her childhood and teen-age years. "My life influenced me to look deeper to find the beauty and humanity in people and places. Even at an early age, I knew I was an artist." Born in Denver, Colorado, Torrez is the oldest of four children from a working class family. Caring for her younger siblings while her parents worked, she would sit on the porch and draw to pass the time. "The other children would come round to watch, and art soon became a way of making friends for me." Instead of playing with other children, she drew them on computer paper her father brought home from his job at IBM. Her art became a survival skill in a rough urban junior high school, where Torrez entertained even the toughest girls by drawing pictures of naked men. By the age of 13, she was painting and selling black light posters...

The Letter, young lady in her boudoir 19th Century majestic miniature painting
Located in Norwich, GB
A majestic miniature painting by Victor Mongodin. Painted with extraordinary detail, it depicts a pretty young lady writing a letter in her boudoir. Mongodin clearly delights in painting fabrics... the silk of her skirt, the cotton of her camisole, as well as the luxurious velvets of the curtains and drapery. And then there is the mystery: who is she writing to? Born in Vire in Normandy in 1819, Victor Mongodin had studied with de Rudder. Working in the French Capital...

"Bustling Alley at Dusk" Oil Painting
By Christopher Clark
Located in Denver, CO
Christopher Clark's (US based) "Bustling Alley at Dusk" is an original, handmade oil painting that depicts a dreamy cityscape that features turn of the century buildings lining an alley where throngs of people gather at cafes and walk past in the light of the setting sun. Bio/artist statement: Christopher has been an artist since early childhood, when he would watch Bob Ross on PBS and mimic the famed oil painter’s art with crayons. He considers himself a self-educated artist, with his studies ranging from personal training with contemporary masters, to classical academic art technique, with much inspiration from 19th Century art and the Impressionist Movement. Christopher lived in Italy for a time, immersing himself in Italian culture and art, which continues to influence his painting. His fan base has grown considerably since his return to the US, gaining the attention of Lucasfilm and Marvel Fine Art, which both signed him as an officially licensed artist in 2016. Other clients include George Lucas, Major League Baseball, Louisville Slugger, and Fender Guitars. Christopher’s painting skills are not his only talent in the arts. He has won several national swing dance championship competitions, and also studies tango and blues dancing. He has played guitar since the age of 12, and during his time as lead guitarist for a rock band, he opened for Blue Oyster Cult...
