Lady on Blue 2

2022

About the Item

"Lady on Blue 2" is a captivating piece of art that features a lady with blue skin sitting in a seductive pose. The painting portrays a woman who is both alluring and mysterious, with an aura that commands attention. Created by Aba Linus, this work of art has a certain je ne sais quoi that captivates the viewer's imagination. The central figure in the painting is the lady with blue skin, who sits with one arm stretched out sideways and the other at the back of her hair. Her pose is suggestive, and her gaze is direct as if she is looking sideways. Her blue skin adds a sense of other worldliness to the painting, making it feel almost like a fantasy. The background of the painting is a deep, rich brown, which further enhances the lady's blue skin. The contrast between the blue of the woman and the brown of the background creates a sense of depth, drawing the viewer into the painting. The brushstrokes are fluid and graceful, adding to the sense of movement and allure. There is a certain ambiguity to this painting that makes it intriguing. Is the lady on display for the viewer's pleasure, or is she lost in her own thoughts? Is she waiting for someone, or is she simply enjoying the moment? The painting leaves these questions unanswered, inviting the viewer to create their own interpretation. In conclusion, "Lady on Blue 2" is a stunning piece of art that captures the viewer's attention with its seductive central figure and alluring background. The use of blue throughout the painting creates a sense of depth and other worldliness, while the lady's pose and clothing add to the overall sense of sensuality. The ambiguity of the painting invites interpretation, making it a fascinating work of art that can be appreciated by all. Desires 1
Located in Ibadan, Oyo
The painting titled "Desires 1" is a beautiful work of art that depicts two women sitting across from each other, engaged in what seems to be a deep and meaningful conversation. The painting, created by Esinulo Chiamaka Praise, features an older woman and a younger woman, each holding a white flower, which adds a sense of purity and serenity to the scene. The older woman, who appears to be in his 50s, and the younger woman, who looks to be in his 20s, are both dressed in a more simple dress. Both women are seated on chairs, with their faces turned towards each other in a relaxed yet focused manner. The title of the painting, "Desires 1," adds an element of intrigue and mystery to the scene, as it hints at the possibility of underlying desires and motivations between the two women. However, the painting does not provide any clear answers or indications of what those desires might be, leaving the interpretation up to the viewer. Wisdom is gathered from lessons learned from experiences. Time and age guide a man through life as regards choices or wants... One possible interpretation of the painting is that it represents the passing of knowledge and wisdom from one generation to the next. The older woman appears to be sharing something with the younger woman, who listens intently and respectfully. The white flowers that both women are holding could be seen as symbols of purity and innocence, representing the purity of the knowledge and wisdom being shared. What you want today may not be what you would want tomorrow, wants change with time. Experiences and age have an influence on choices. Responsibilities are given with time. What is your desire now? Another interpretation of the painting is that it represents a deep and meaningful conversation between two people who share a close and intimate relationship. The fact that both women are holding white flowers suggests a sense of purity and love between them, while their relaxed and focused expressions indicate a sense of comfort and ease in each other's presence. In terms of technique, the painting is expertly executed, with rich colors and intricate details that bring the scene to life. Keating's use of light and shadow creates a sense of depth and dimensionality, while the placement of the two men in the center of the painting draws the viewer's attention to their faces and the emotions that are portrayed in them. Overall, "Desires 3" is a beautiful and thought-provoking painting that captures the essence of a deep and meaningful conversation between two people. It is a testament to the power of art to evoke emotion and inspire reflection, leaving the viewer with a sense of curiosity and wonder about the motivations and desires of the two women in the painting. Large French Expressionist Oil Painting, Girl, Poupèe, the Doll, Ecole de Paris
Located in Surfside, FL
Signed on recto and signed verso, titled, and inscribed Montmartre by the artist. This is a large colorful expressionist painting of a girl doll with long blonde or ginger redhead pigtails. It is titled Poupee 1925 and depicts an Art Deco era flapper girl in a beret. Roger Crusat (French Expressionist artist, poet and lithographer) is known for ballet troupe set design and theatre backdrop painting and architectural motifs. Roger Crusat was born in 1917 in Roussillon, Provence, France. Crusat's early works depict the colorful countryside of Provence in the South of France, As a young man Crusat performed many jobs in the troupe, designing costumes, and even dancing. But, most important, he painted the scenery for the troupe's performances. It was while working in this capacity that he learned the essentials of scenery painting that remain evident in his mature work. Crusat was a student of Andre Fons-Godail at Beaux-Arts in Perpignan when he was called to serve in World War II. After being wounded in 1940, he returned to study under Rene Jaudon at Beaux-Arts in Paris. Crusat was known by his contemporaries as "the Catalan painter of Montmartre" where he lived with his wife until his death in 1994. Cracked and peeling walls framed by rusting water pipes are a common sight in Montmartre. What others considered unnecessary, Crusat included. Water pipes were his cherished motif. Supposed by some to be a symbol of decay and monotony, Crusat's Impressionist water pipes like arteries in the body, convey life. Crusat won the prestigious Prix Populiste for his "Descente d'Eau" (Water Pipes) in 1956. Crusat's mature work retains the essentials of good scenery painting. Intricate detail will not be found, but broad, solid abstract shapes abound. His subtle colors, dense in texture, are meant to compliment his subjects, not distract from them. The critics considered him a lyric expressionist and a "painter of Man" in his portrayal of the anguish of daily life and the regrets of the past. Crusat exhibited at many of the same Salons as the post-impressionists and expressionists. Salon des Independants was co-founded by Georges Seurat. Degas had only one exhibition during his lifetime, and it was at the Galerie Durand Ruel in Paris. Gauguin had also exhibited his Tahitian paintings. Crusat's works were exhibited there in 1955.
