About the Item
Set in the luxurious Italian lake region of northern Italy, Lake Como is famously popular for it's exclusive resorts and private hideaways, frequented by jet setting crowds. It's hard to imagine a more restful sojourn than waking up to a view of the sun rising over the famed lake with your sailboat tied up awaiting your signal that you are ready for a sail to the Villa d'Este for lunch and a swim in the floating pool. DeCeglie has used both classic impressionist impasto paint application and bold brush strokes to add motion throughout the composition while preserving the tranquility of Lake Como with more concise strokes and muted, sun bleached colors. Born and raised in Italy, now living and painting in New York, artist Bart DeCeglie studied at both Pratt Institute and the Phoenix School of Art and Design before returning to Pratt Institute as an adjunct professor. DeCeglie has also taught at both New York's Fashion Institute of Technology and the National Art League. In the summer of 2023 DeCeglie lead a painting class of his students on a pilgrimage to his Italian homeland as well. This 20 x 24 original Italian impressionist marine landscape is framed in a slightly distressed baroque antique gold frame thereby providing a reminder of the antiquities represented by the work.
