"Weathered Hands" Charcoal on Paper Drawing 16" x 19" inch by Ahmed Saber
AHMED SABER - BIO
Ahmed Saber is an Egyptian artist based in Luxor in Upper Egypt, where he received his BFA with honors in Graphic Design & Printmaking from the south Valley University. His delicate watercolor paintings and woodcuts reveal harsh realities in the worlds he creates, and are heavy with symbolism. There’s an edge of political subversion, at times playful and humorous, and other times, dark and somber. His active participation in annual Youth Salons, and exhibiting all around Egypt, has earned him many awards to date. He currently teaches at the Faculty of Fine Arts in Luxor. I would like to drawing by dry materials such as
hard pastel pencil charcoal and also drawing by water color and ink.
"I follow Giorgio de Chirico and Carlo Carra way in metaphysical art work In my art work I use legendary symbols and metaphysical objects.
My work have many details ... you see many objects crowded over."

Ragheb Ayad was born in Cairo on the 10th of March 1892 and inscribed himself in the School of Fine Arts since its opening in 1908. After graduation, he taught art in the high Coptic school and made several trips on his own to France and Italy to complete his artistic education. He was the first to obtain a governmental scholarship to Rome, where he stayed for five years studying art at the Superior Institute of Fine Arts. Since his return to Cairo in 1930, he was assigned as director of the decorative section of the Faculty of Applied Arts. In 1937, he was named professor at the Faculty of Fine Arts and director of its free section. He was in charge of reorganizing the Coptic museum, and since 1950 became head of the Museum of Modern Art, where he made a special section in it for the great sculpture Mahmoud Mokhtar. Since 1924 and for half a century, he participated in most of the exhibitions of the ‘Cairo Salon’ plus organizing 40 solo exhibitions. Ragheb Ayad is considered one of the pioneers of Egyptian art in the 20th century alongside Mahmoud Mokhtar, Youssef Kamel, Mohamed Hassan, Mahmoud Said, and Mohamed Naghy.
Ragheb Ayad is the first to get rid of the western influences and to create Egyptian art with its own solid identity. For the rest of his life, Ragheb Ayad was dedicated to the popular themes of Egyptian life, whether it is the cosmopolitan Cairo or the upper Egyptian villages and the small towns. He visited all these places, recording the pulsating life of the soaks, the moulids, the cafes, and the men and women dancers. Ragheb Ayad remained forever the painter of this true Egyptian universe. Ragheb Ayad is considered to be the first expressionistic painter who influenced the second and third generation of artists. Aside from the popular Ayad was attracted to the religious themes where he portrayed the flight of the holly family in Egypt and the birth of Jesus. Moreover, Ayad is known to be the first Egyptian artist to be influenced by ancient Egyptian art...

(shipped in a roll form)
"I have built my career on surrealist,anatomical/botanical fantasies; beautifully rendered yet sometimes haunting and gruesome, void of irony and done with absolute sincerity. My work builds meaning primarily by exploring the unbridgeable difference between animals and people. A proactive imagery of humans and animals suggests an investigation of linguistics, the natural sciences and human sociology all in respect to the parallel universe of other species alongside us. I use a seemingly detached abstraction as a counter-point, tomy- stylised fabrications of sexual desire"- Prashant Salvi
An undercurrent of eroticism, viewed with a steady detachment often can be part of Salvi's works, morphing human and animal forms and throwing psychological riddles challenging the viewer to decide where life begins or ends.
Salvi's watercolours with its technical virtuosity turn images from nature to a surrealistic dance of survival. The works are challenging, complex and magically real and acknowledge life’s gentleness and aggressiveness in unison. While nature’s logic could be used to argue the very existence of an omnipotent creator, Salvi, paradoxically suggests ambiguity to life's bigger and deeper questions; answers of which he feels don't come in neat packages.
