Provenance: Robert Miller Gallery, NY., Mira Godard Gallery, Toronto, Ontario, CA Roberto Juarez (born 1952) is an American visual artist known for his paintings, murals, and mixed-media works. Born in Chicago, (parents of both Mexican and Puerto Rican Latino heritage) Juarez received his B.F.A. at the San Francisco Art Institute (1977) and pursued graduate studies in Television and Film at the University of California, Los Angeles. Juarez frequently employs painterly floral motifs, which are inspired by the traditions of Hispanic, Latin American and non-Western painting. Roberto Juarez has been a significant presence in the art worlds of New York, Miami, Colorado, and beyond since the early 1980s. In 1978, Juarez completed his graduate thesis for UCLA in Paris and decided not to return to L.A. Juarez relocated to New York City, where in 1981, Ellen Stewart offered Juarez a former garage owned by La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club as an artist studio. The space, which had no water or electricity, was offered to Juarez rent-free, provided that he clean and maintain it. He was active in the Neo Expressionist era of the the late 1980's along with Julian Schnabel and David Salle. Throughout the 80s and 90s Juarez painted the branching forms of trees and flowers. While living in Miami in the 90s, Juarez began to incorporate peat moss, rice paper, and other natural materials in his canvases. Since 2000, and his move from Miami back to New York, Juarez's imagery turned more abstract, typically featuring geometric forms and systems. In a review from this period, art critic Grace Glueck noted that his works feature “a contrast between the softness of the grounds – blends of transparent and opaque materials in muted colors – and their strong geometric-organic motifs." In his use of elements of nature to portray an idyllic unity, Juarez looks back to such early-20th-century painters as Franz Marc and Henri Matisse. He has done prints with Shark’s Ink Studios in Lyons and Anderson Ranch Arts Center as well as Tamarind Institute. Roberto Juarez is a visual artist who has been active in the areas of painting, printmaking, drawing, and large-scale public commissions throughout his career. His work has been exhibited throughout the United States and Mexico, and is included in major museum collections such as the Brooklyn Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, El Museo del Barrio, the Denver Art Museum, the Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Pérez Art Museum Miami, the Newark Museum, and the Speed Art Museum. He has completed public art projects and murals for the Miami International Airport, Grand Central Terminal, the Miami-Dade County Courthouse, Whitman College, and the University of Michigan College of Engineering. Juarez won the Prix de Rome in 1997 and was a Guggenheim Fellow in 2001-2002. Titled: Calabash Hand signed, dated and titled. Sheila Elias (born in Chicago, Illinois) is an American artist. Her work is Neo Expressionist, Feminist Pop Art. Her works have been featured in exhibitions across North America and at the Liberty show at the Louvre Museum in Paris. Elias graduated from the Art Institute of Chicago, lives and works in Miami, Florida and in New York City. As an artist and art historian, Elias works with the layers of life and art history, seeking in it a connection between art aesthetics and social consciousness. She has exhibited with diverse artists, Larry Rivers, Bob Stanley, Ford Crull, Sol LeWitt, Mark Tobey, Walter Darby Bannard, Clyde Butcher. Her work spans the disciplines of painting, digital mixed media, sculpture, installation and performance. Her inspiration to be an artist began with the work that Matisse created (La Cirque) in the library of the Art Institute of Chicago. Paul Wieghardt (from the Bauhaus School in Germany), was her art teacher at SAIC. She was influenced by the Marisol, Claes Oldenburg and Jean Dubuffet. Her sculptures also reveal the influence of Andy Warhol and Robert Rauschenberg. We also have a work from her Pompidou Series (1979-1981) built around the X in the raw, exposed architecture of the Centre Georges Pompidou in the center of Paris designed by Richard Rodgers and Renzo Piano. Richard Hennessy, 1972. Born in Rochester, NY, in 1941, Hennessy began as a gifted concert pianist studying at the Eastman School of Music from 1954-1959. He went on to study art history at the Institute of Fine Arts, New York University, from 1963-66, after which he began his career as a fine artist. His early paintings were quickly admired and supported by Henry Geldzahler, curator of Modern Art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His first exhibition was in 1969 at Olivier Bernier Inc. NYC, followed in 1970 by a show at the Tibor De Nagy Gallery, also in NYC. Over the years he has shown in San Francisco, Indiana, Arizona, Florida, and at other prominent NYC galleries including Robert Miller, Hamilton, John Good and a retrospective at NYU’s Grey Gallery...

Werner Liebmann (born 1951) is a German painter and graphic artist . Werner Liebmann was born in Königsthal in Thuringia. Born in Königsthal from 1969 to 1973 he studied chemistry at the Martin Luther University in Halle (Saale) . From 1973 to 1976 he worked as a project engineer. He was active as a chemist until he opted for an artistic career and studied painting at the University of Art and Design in Halle. A master student of Bernhard Heisig, he graduated at the College of Fine Arts Leipzig. Since then, he has been a freelance artist, as well as a professor at the College of Fine Arts in Dresden and currently at the Art school Berlin – Weissensee. His works were represented at numerous group exhibitions and solo exhibitions in Halle, Hamburg, Berlin, Düsseldorf and further cities, mostly in Germany. Influenced by the Neo Figuraist artists of the Junge Wilde painters. In 1978, the Junge Wilde painting style arose in the German-speaking world in opposition to established avant garde, minimal art and conceptual art. It was linked to the similar Transavanguardia movement in Italy, USA (neo-expressionism) and France (Figuration Libre). The Junge Wilde painted their expressive paintings in bright, intense colors and with quick, broad brushstrokes very much influenced by Professor at the Academy of Art in Berlin, Karl Horst Hödicke (b:1938).
