Born in Lincolnshire in 1972, Pixie qualified from Lancaster University in 1994, with BA hons QTS in English Literature and Theatre Studies. For the next 26 years, she taught primary aged children in schools located in the UK, Portugal and Thailand. Whilst teaching in Thailand, Pixie developed her love and interest in art. In 2012, she was commissioned to paint 99 paintings for the bedrooms of a hotel in Pattaya, Thailand. Following this success, Pixie retired from teaching and returned to the UK to focus full time on her art. When Pixie is not painting, she is training for triathlons. Having completed an Ironman in 2018, this has fuelled her belief that anything is possible. "I believe art is creation. It's in the rustling trees, it's in the air we breathe, it's in the songs we sing, it's in everything. I am proud of my art as it has a voice. It speaks to me, it speaks for me. It reveals my heart and my soul. I hope my art speaks to others too. That it comforts and confronts, that it challenges and questions, that it demands all and nothing. My art is my books, my music, my history and the history of others."

Eastern Glades Series 4 Acrylic on Canvas Contemporary Abstract 36" x 36"
By Eleanor McCarthy
Located in Houston, TX
Eastern Glades Series 4 Acrylic on Canvas Contemporary Abstract 36" x 36" Inspiration for Eastern Glades 4 is from the Memorial Park Conservancy in Houston, Texas As the first significant project of Memorial Park Conservancy's 10-year plan, Clay Family Eastern Glades is another beautiful location for Houstonians to enjoy nature at its finest. Inspired by the original 1930s master plan by landscape architects Hare & Hare, Memorial Park's Eastern Glades section adds nearly 100 acres of open space for recreation, relaxation or quiet reflection. Eleanor McCarthy uses acrylic paints on canvas to create the soothing colors in her new contemporary paintings that were just painted in 2024. Every client sees a different image in her new series of paintings being produced in 2024. The Clay Family Eastern Glades is named after the family of third- and fourth-generation Houstonians Emily and Robert Clay, who donated $10 million toward the park's capital campaign in 2018. If you've never visited or it's been a while, keep reading to learn more about this 100-acre open space located in one of Houston's best green spaces—complete with natural habitats and Hines Lake. The Eastern Glades Series is gallery wrapped so there is no need for a frame. Eleanor McCarthy is inspired by the scenery of Texas, Southwestern Colorado, and Europe. Eleanor has recently begun to pursue non-representational painting and has enjoyed exploring the process of abstraction in creating new works of art. She has added acrylic painting and mixed media application to her artworks. Eleanor graduated from Tulane University with a BA in Sociology and from Southern Methodist University School of Law with a JD. Eleanor began to pursue painting after her children went to college. She has studied with Nancy Paris Pruden in Houston for the last 20 years and for two years with Arielle Masson at the Glassell School of Art. Eleanor has furthered her training with painting workshops in Texas, Colorado and Washington State under Mitch Albala, Jeanne Mackenzie, Joshua...
