"Magdalena" (black & white, red, text type, abstract, surreal, dark, mysterious)

2024

About the Item

MAGDALENA 2024, Paris, France An abstract and surreal original painting which is primarily black & white with accents of deep reds, browns, light blues, greens, and natural tones, offering a sophisticated and neutral color palette. Very dark and mysterious overall using primarily black matte and satin finish paint, with blurred, distorted, white, vertical, symmetrical shapes. At the top of the piece is the name "MAGDALENA.", in hand-painted, centered type. The number "104" is positioned in smaller type underneath. Intentionally obstructed deep red shapes and accents are incorporated at the bottom of the work. Beautiful texture, depth and surreal movement are at the center of this piece. Artist's signature is on the back, over an Evans Deventer stamp bearing the painting's name, the location of where work was done and year, 2024. Exposed nail heads on side. Two parallel horizontally oriented perforations in the canvas on the lower right corner are patched from the back, as pictured.
