About the Item
In "The Power Within", French artist Natalya Mougenot places a strong emphasis on authenticity, suggesting that true empowerment for women arises when they embrace their most genuine selves. By highlighting this theme, Mougenot reveals that the strength of women goes beyond overcoming external challenges—it's about navigating those obstacles while staying true to who they are, without succumbing to societal expectations or norms.
The concept of authenticity is depicted through the raw and unfiltered portrayal of women's emotions, experiences, and identities. The work captures the complexities of womanhood—flaws, imperfections, and unique qualities—all of which are integral to personal strength. This unmasking of vulnerability serves as a powerful reminder that embracing one’s true self is not a weakness but a form of profound strength.
Mougenot encourages women to reject societal pressures and instead celebrate their individuality and uniqueness. "The Power Within" thus becomes more than a tribute to overcoming challenges—it stands as a testament to the belief that true power lies in embracing and celebrating one’s authentic nature.
This painting, titled "The Power Within", is part of Mougenot’s series dedicated to women. Through this series, she explores womanhood and the modern-day experiences of women, capturing them as strong, determined, beautiful, and vulnerable. Inspired by exceptional women who have had to overcome physical, legal, emotional, and societal challenges, the work refers to the untapped power within all women that enables them to endure and thrive in a demanding world.
Notably, the absence of a face in the painting invites viewers to connect personally with the figure, allowing each person to project their own interpretation of resilience. The faceless figure suggests that every woman’s story of strength is unique, and this universal theme resonates deeply with diverse audiences.
In this series, Mougenot blends expressionism, abstract art, art brut, and impressionism to channel her emotions in one single, unalterable sitting. Once the work is completed, she does not revisit it—allowing the painting to live its own life. This sense of immediacy and symbiosis with the canvas imbues the work with raw emotion and spontaneity.
"The Power Within" captivates with its expressive brushstrokes and vibrant color palette. The central figure, abstract and faceless, holds a green object—perhaps a fruit—suggesting contemplation or indulgence. The dynamic background, filled with swirling reds, blues, and greens, contrasts the stillness of the figure, evoking a sense of movement and emotion. The painter’s technique emphasizes texture and depth, making the piece both tactile and immersive.
This artwork is truly unique, a one-of-a-kind creation that embodies the artist's vision in a way that cannot be replicated. By acquiring it, you are not simply owning a beautiful work of art, but obtaining something entirely singular, imbued with the artist’s message of empowerment and authenticity.
The piece is painted with acrylics on cotton stretched canvas, ready to hang, and has been varnished to protect it from dust and fading. It will be carefully packed and shipped from France, accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity.

Natalya Mougenot id a french artist living in France for more than 20 years. She was born and grew up in Kazakhstan, the country known for its spacious steppes. She arrived in France 2003. Since that moment she loves her adoptive country. She started painting in 2017 and used it as a therapeutic and emotional release during times of crisis. She incorporates this therapeutic approach in her artistic creative process till now. In her artistic practice she refers to the terms of metamodernism, which proposes to look at the world from the position of the inner adult. As an artist and as a woman she translates the experience of her personal search for balance based on harmony between mind, soul and body. This balance, in her opinion, is the pillar for the inner adult. Important components of her work are authenticity, soulfulness, sincerity, emotionality and honesty. She immerses the objects and the characters in the world where there is no falsity, rudeness, loneliness and indifference. She works rapidly and is constantly sensitive to the details. Her artistic process is a fine balance between a pre-meditation and spontantainty which helps her to create her expressive atmospheric artworks with a modern touch of impressionism by cultivating a naive art approach. Natalya manipulates different mediums without a preconceived plan since she is guided by what she wants to express at the moment by embracing the quality of my materials. She does not deny that her artworks reflect her intuitive approach and her love for vibrant colors which represent her who she is. Natalya says she is never able to create the same piece more than once. Sometimes she paints from photos or images. Sometimes she paints from memory. She tells to herself : "Just be yourself when you create ".
