"Intrusion" - Acrylic and Oil Stick on Wood Panel
By Jaqueline Jandrell
Located in West Hollywood, CA
Jacqueline Jandrell is an emerging artist who is South African by birth. She immigrated to the UK with her family after the loss of her father and grandfather. Becoming an immigrant affects everyone in different ways, and while young, this change of culture, country, and separation helped shape Jandrell as an artist. As she does not identify as British or as South African, this "lack" of cultural identity tends to manifest in her paintings. Her paintings are abstract, visceral and intuitive, as she is drawn to the flexibility and ambiguity of abstraction. Painting is a form of honesty for Jandrell, it allows her to relax and feel centered, almost becoming a style of meditation. "Intrusion" Contemporary Abstract Art 48 x 36 Acrylic and Oil Stick...

Connected Conversations 2
By Farida Hughes
Located in Boston, MA
Artist Commentary: Scientists like my work. They often make comments about looking at specimens in a petri dish, or at rocks or natural materials under a microscope. The two "Connected Conversations" panels (numbers 1 and 2) are painted in mixed media on alupanel, and aluminum sheet material. They are braced on the back for hanging and support and look like they are floating on the wall. Keywords: color, abstract, movement, motion, circles, yellow, bubbles, maroon, wine Details about the piece: - This is a hand painted, original painting - Created in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - Artist now lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland, USA - Professional grade oil paints and ArtResin on Dibond panel - Other materials include professional grade watercolor and oil pastel - Dibond panel with aluminum framing on back and wood supports and 1" wood cradle - Ready to hang with wires and D ring - Signed on the back - Certificate of authenticity and care sheet included with original Artist Biography: Farida Hughes’ lively and intriguing abstract paintings take their inspiration from the gathering and dispersing of crowds, group relationships, and shared histories and stories of people. She developed her abstract mixed media style, and methods of mixing oil paint with resin, after many years of painting with oil paint and experimenting with oil painting mediums. Artist Commentary: For ten years I lived in Minnesota and had a studio in Northeast Minneapolis, which I loved. When I moved to the city, I began to paint compositions of abstracted crowds of people as imagined from above. Can you envision this painting as a large crowd of people? You can hang this either horizontally or vertically. A little impressionistic in expression, this painting also reminds me of a garden of happy flowers. Keywords: color, abstract, movement, motion, circles, yellow, bubbles, gray, orange, colorful, texture, busy Details about the piece: - This is a hand painted, original painting - Created in Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA - Artist now lives and works in Baltimore, Maryland, USA - Professional grade oil paints and ArtResin on wood panel - Other materials include professional grade watercolor and oil pastel - Wood Panel with Birchwood face and 1.5" Poplar wood cradle - Ready to hang with wires and D ring - Signed on the back - Certificate of authenticity and care sheet included with original Artist Biography: Farida Hughes’ lively and intriguing abstract paintings take their inspiration from the gathering and dispersing of crowds, group relationships, and shared histories and stories of people.
