The V-MD X Series: The architecture of forces in space My works titled V-MD X come into being through the combination of precise geometric fragments, which in great numbers produce an open visual communication. The works are based on sketches designed on a computer, which are then put on canvas true to scale. Together the forms and the transitions between them develop into a visual whole. Contrasts make the individual segments interact with each other in ever new ways according to the perception of the viewer. The on the one hand consciously constructed, and on the other, playful combination of colors, forms and structures results in an energetic interaction of forces in space. Finally, the viewer has the overall impression of a dynamic conjunction of shapes in which each element has its own vital function. Mark was born in Dortmund in 1971. He studied Fine Arts at the Kunstakademie Munster (Academy of Fine Arts Münster) in the class of Prof. Ludmilla von Arseniew. He got is academic degree at 2004. In 2005 he became a master student at the Kunstadademie Munster and the Kunstadademie Düsseldorf where he purchased his title.

John Nieland (1966) was born in Baflo, Groningen, the Netherlands en grew up in Friesland. As a young boy his creative talent was already recognized. For a brief period he attended the Rietveld Art Academy in Amsterdam. He felt the academic way of working obstructing his own style, so he decided to go his own way.
His work is inspired by CoBrA, abstract, expressive and surreel. On his colourful and big canvasses he works with thick layers of paint, expressing emotions from the past. The multiple layers make the artwork more complex than you would expect it to be, at first sight. More paintings than one are hidden under the surface. Everyone with its own story, emotion, secret, powerful and renewing. Expression by art is a necessity of life for Nieland.
