Self taught artist Joseph Conrad-Ferm did not discover his need to paint until the winter of 2001, at age 26. “I don’t have a college art degree and I don’t have an art critics vocabulary. I paint when I’m feeling good and I paint when feeling otherwise. I find the right music to fit my mood and I go to work, though work is probably not the right word for it. It used to pour out of me, as fast as I could move the brush, though I’ve since learned to restrain my efforts. My recent painting process has become quite intense, by design. My intention is to reveal a complex and timeless process that is easy to engage. My movement in the studio is calculated, at this stage of my artistic development and career. I believe the imagery and substance of my artistic voice are born through me, from a place that is closer and more familiar than my breath.” With over 1,000 finished works, on paper, canvas, and wood, his paintings are in public and private collections worldwide, including a recent museum acquisition. Ferm has over 80 solo and group shows to his credit, with a solo show @ the Coral Springs museum of art, in south FL. Ferm’s work is used extensively by interior designers, has been seen in design publications in the U.S. and Europe, and can be found on several television shows. An avid cyclist, Ferm has recently married two passions. Through collaborations with companies in the US and abroad, select paintings have transitioned onto cycling and other athletic apparel. He lives on Cape Cod, with artist Sarah Conrad-Ferm and their two boys. Ferm is currently employed full time as a registered nurse, in a critical care setting, at Cape Cod hospital in Hyannis, Mass.

The textural, earthy tones of the moor are complimented by the green/greys and dusky pinks of the sky. I wanted to create movement in this piece, with fast moving scudding clouds. Chalk pastel and Inktense were worked over the earth colours to create moorland grasses. This piece is presented in a soft, off white deep cut mount. The Desert Shall Rejoice, Abstract Colour Field Landscape Painting, Desert Art
By Jon Rowland
Located in Deddington, GB
The Desert Shall Rejoice – Jon Rowland – Abstract Expressionism [2020] Please note that insitu images are purely an indication of how a piece may look During this year it was difficult to travel. So I looked through some of the images I had photographed from an earlier trip to the desert with its wide views, amazing colours and BIG sky; somewhere warm and interesting. This is one of a series of paintings influenced by the visit to the deserts of Jordan and Israel. After the fascination of Petra, hewn out of rock, it was the sense of freedom in its immensity, the natural forms of craters and wadis at different times that stimulated me; gold in the morning, purple and orange at dusk. Discover new paintings by Jon Rowland and his abstract expressionism with Wychwood Art. Each work has been carefully selected by Deborah Allan our Chief Art Curator. Wychwood Art have exhibited Jon Rowland in London during a pop-up exhibition of theirs at the Darren Baker Gallery. His paintings have been displayed at the Royal Academy and at the Berthold and Darren Baker Gallery in London. He has also exhibited in group exhibitions at Linacre and Green Colleges, at Swann Gallery in Woodstock, and with Wychwood Art at Battersea Art Fair. He was one of six contemporary artists who took part in an exhibition of views of Blenheim Palace, juxtaposing the original visions with today's, as part of the celebration of the 300th anniversary of Capability Brown...

Large Abstract Expressionist Taiwanese Painting Chihung Yang Chinese Art
Located in Surfside, FL
Chihung Yang American (b. 1947) Untitled (Black and Brown Composition) (1986) Mixed media (acrylic, pastel) on paper Hand signed lower right Sheet 38 x 50 inches, frame dimensions: 45 x 57 x 2 inches, wood frame with glazing Provenance:= From a Corporate Art Collection Yang Chihung (Chinese: 楊識宏; pinyin: Yang Chihung; born 1947) Taiwanese-American artist. Yang Chi-hung was born on 25 October 1947, in Chungli, Taiwan. He developed an interest in art in early childhood, and found inspirations to pursue an artist career after reading Lust for Life – The Life of Vincent van Gogh, translated by poet Yu Kuang-chung, in junior high school. Between 1965 and 1968, he attended the National Taiwan College of Art, developing a sound foundation in oil painting under the tutelage of famous Taiwanese artists of the Japanese Colonial period, such as Liao Chi-chun, Li Mei-shu and Yang San-lang. Meanwhile, he actively attended events organized by the modern art groups of Taiwan, namely the Fifth Moon Group and Ton Fan Group, only to find himself both intimidated and dissatisfied with the then relatively conservative art environment in Taiwan. In 1979, he emigrated to the United States of America with his wife, Jane, and their son, Daniel. His pioneering works soon landed him the “Outstanding Asian-American Artist” award. The concept and style of abstract expressionism as represented by the works of Jackson Pollock in the 1950s had great impact on Yang’s work. With the sense of nihilism that gave rise to abstract expressionism in the post-war period, artists no longer clamored to depict the external environment, but rather chose to focus on their own inner experience. Yang Chihung embraced this spirit about the early 1990s when his style turned abstract. In 1984–85 and again in 1985–86, he was twice awarded a year's residency at The Clocktower Studio in New York City by MoMA P.S.1. In 2013, Yang, along with Xu Bing, Zhang Huan, and Li Chen, were the four artists featured in the Discovery Channel Asia documentary series, Chineseness, a multi-series production that focused on postwar Chinese contemporary artists.
