Anne Russinof
Anne Russinof, Stacked Vault, 2015, Canvas, Oil Paint

2015

About the Item

Russinof uses large brushes to create highly energized gestures that intimate various patterns and forms in architecture such as frames, cornices and baroque ceiling vaults. These paintings are process-based in the sense that one is aware of drips and the accretion of layers, and also flirt with their role as objects by virtue of the gesture’s relation to the painting edge. Color serves to create a window onto natural space and light, even as the forms themselves acknowledge their own framing. She often thinks in these works of Renaissance portraits where the sitter’s forearm rests on the very edge of the frame, inviting intimacy, with a tiny landscape in the far distance. Anne Russinof lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. Originally from Chicago, she is a graduate of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and received an MFA from Pratt Institute. She has been a resident at the Yaddo and Millay Art Colonies and has exhibited widely, particularly in Manhattan and Brooklyn. Her studio is in the Crown Heights neighborhood. She is a member of The American Abstract Artists, and maintains a blog called Gallery Travels that focuses on mostly abstract painting shown in NYC.

Vitrales al Alba - Blue and Aqua Abstract Painting, South American Lyrical Art
By Alfredo Aya
Located in New York, NY
This stunning abstract piece captures the essence of dawn with its ethereal blue and aqua tones. The vertical composition and soft transitions of light evoke the effect of stained glass illuminated by morning sunlight, adding a tranquil atmosphere to any space. The delicate blending of shapes and colors creates a sense of harmony and balance, ideal for living rooms, bedrooms, or contemporary interiors that seek to evoke calm and reflection. Inspired by the artist’s belief that “form and movement emerge from color,” this work offers both visual depth and serene movement. Drawing parallels to lyrical abstraction, this painting shares an affinity with South American modernism, while offering a dynamic interplay of light and form that invites contemplation. Its fluid lines and luminous color palette make it versatile for a variety of design styles, adding both elegance and vibrancy to spaces. Aya was born in Paris in 1954 and after studying in Paris and Switzerland he moved to Colombia in his late teens. He lives and works in Bogota'. Abstract painting for living room...

Florero Nocturno - Nightime floral abstract painting, Magical Realism, Colombian
By Alfredo Aya
Located in New York, NY
This dreamlike painting, "Florero Nocturno" (Nighttime Flowers), evokes a sense of quiet contemplation. The muted palette of greys, purples, and blues blends harmoniously with the soft glow of diffused light, creating an atmosphere of peaceful introspection. The abstracted flowers, blurred by the stillness of night, add an ethereal quality that makes the piece ideal for creating a tranquil space in living rooms, bedrooms, or reading nooks. The subtle transitions of color and shadow evoke the magical realism often seen in Colombian art, offering a delicate balance between the familiar and the abstract. The mystical, fluid quality of this piece, influenced by Odilon Redon, adds depth and sophistication to any interior. Its introspective tone, softened by the interplay of light and shadow, invites viewers to pause and reflect. Whether displayed as a focal point in modern or transitional spaces, this painting brings timeless beauty to the room. Inspiration Geometric Abstraction
By Jaro
Located in Lake Worth Beach, FL
Inspiration 2021 Artist signed verso, oil on canvas 48x36 JARO was born in 1934 Prague the Czech Republic. Since his childhood, he enjoyed his art class at school the most. Almost every drawing and panting were on display in his classroom. During his college years, in Vienna Austria, studying to become mechanical engineer, he continued to study art. His technical drafting education became later a major factor and influence in his GEOMETRIC ABSTRACTION (Non-Objective) paintings. He immigrated in 1957 to the USA, New York , where he finished his first small oil painting. Since then JARO painted on and off, until he opened his own studio in 1965 on East 4th Street in the Village. Here he created a series of well designed palette knife paintings in the style of abstract expressionism. JARO stretched off shaped canvases, making him one of the first artists working with these unique shapes. At the time JARO owned his own studio, he studied at the Art Students League 57th Street, New York.  Later in 1969, he studied in Woodstock for several years with John Pike, one of the foremost watercolorists in America, as well as, with Robert Angeloch...

"Amalfi 4" abstract oil painting in shades of blue, green, red and white
By Chase Langford
Located in Edgartown, MA
Chase Langford has invented a distinctive visual language that is grounded in the natural and built environment while embarking into uncharted territory. His impactful depictions recall maps and aerial photography of sea coasts, mountains, farmland and cities through a calculated execution and highly refined draftsmanship. Just as the West Coast Abstract Expressionists (1940 to 1970) found California’s striking landscape fertile ground, so does Langford as he draws upon his geographic environs both near and far. Through his cartographic mastery, Langford contorts and synthesizes geographic elements, bringing forth paintings that are mysteriously familiar yet surprisingly unconventional. They challenge conventions of geography and landscapes, offering invigorating visions of space and place that transcend any specific locale, leading us to an exhilarating emotional experience. Bio Chase Langford born in Pontiac, Michigan, is a Los Angeles-based artist well known for his geographically inspired paintings. He studied cartography earning a BA from UC Santa Barbara in Geography then worked as a cartographer at UCLA. Starting with his Map Paintings he literally reinterpreted geography by taking selected features from maps and filled in the reconfigured shapes in a flurry of color and movement creating a fresh take on familiar geographic forms. This followed with series that moved even deeper into pure abstraction with his Coldwater, Mulholland, and Scrape series which all lead to his Morphic series, now the core focus of his painting today. His paintings have been widely shown at one-person and group exhibitions in Los Angeles, New York City, Washington DC, Montreal, Palo Alto, Las Vegas, Long Beach, Napa Valley, Seattle, and Palm Springs and included many corporate/public collections (often site specific commissions) such as Long Beach Musuem of Art, Keck School of Medicine at USC, Michael & Susan Dell Foundation, Star City...
