About the Item
Linda Stein began to produce sculptural tapestries in 2013, in which she combines archival images of a subject with multiple fabrics and leather. Toward Words 1205 is one of Stein's abstract works, in which she repeats the same letters through the artwork: a demonstration of how letters are used toward making words. All the other tapestries from this abstract series are in the Permanent Collection of Ringling Museum of Art.
Stein's works are in more than 25 museum permanent collections, including Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art and Georgia Museum of Art in the US; Victoria Gallery & Museum and Manchester Art Gallery in the UK; Espoo Museum of Modern Art in Finland; and Konstmuseet i Skövde in Sweden.
