About the Item

Title: Bradbury, 2015 Incredibly detailed and life-like carbon pencil portrait: " a portrait of the individual, frozen in a moment in time, rather than an idealized depiction." Harrison consciously leaves out the backgrounds, preferring to focus the viewer's attention on the beauty of the subject being depicted. William Harrison (b. 1952, Albany, NY) grew up in the suburbs of Chicago and studied art at the University of Illinois. After spending many years as a successful commercial artist Harrison turned his talents to fine art. He works exclusively at drawing in carbon pencil, creating incredibly detailed and life-like pieces. The goal of each of his drawings is to create a portrait of the individual, frozen in a moment in time, rather than an idealized depiction. He consciously leaves out backgrounds, preferring to focus the viewer’s attention on the beauty of the creature itself.
